"Croatia's Dalmatian Coast: Roasted Rodents & Stone Soup" - Premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT(NEW NIGHT AND TIME!)
Andrew Zimmern travels to Croatia, an Eastern European country straight out of a storybook, where people are living and eating like their ancestors of a thousand years ago. With local chef Tatiana Ciciliani leading the way, Zimmern goes in search of ingredients for sea rock soup and samples stew made of monkfish intestines. An up-and-coming tourist hotspot, Croatia still features ancient tastes from roasted dormice and giant offal kebabs to baked rooster and grilled frog.
HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE
"Dirty Water Falls" - Premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT
Anthony Melchiorri heads to Niagara Falls, N.Y., to save the Waldorf Niagara Hotel. The 55-room hotel features an indoor pool, an Italian restaurant and is walking distance from Terrapin Point, one of the best spots to see the falls from the U.S. side. But the property is filthy and neglected, occupancy is low and several hotels are under construction nearby, threatening the future of the Waldorf. Melchiorri learns that the property was once a branded hotel but lost its franchise because of issues with housekeeping. During his guest room inspection, Melchiorri is greeted by a disgusting smelly carpet, stains on the mattress and evidence of bedbugs. Chase, the bedbug dog, finds 12 of the 55 rooms infested and exterminators are called in.?Owner Filippo is $2 million in debt, but reluctant to spend money on the necessities - including fixing a faulty fire alarm panel. The rift between Filippo and his general manager, Joe, is wider than Niagara Falls itself. If they want to succeed, Melchiorri needs to get them on the same page. ?Melchiorri brings in a hotel?real estate agent to appraise the property; despite Filippo's investments, it's?only worth a fraction of the money he put into it. Melchiorri tasks designer Anne Rue with renovating the lobby and making over five guest rooms. Since the Waldorf Niagara isn't a five-star hotel, it shouldn't have a five-star name, so Melchiorri presents a new name for the hotel. ?With all the issues and the conflict?within upper management, will it be enough to compete with the newer hotels being built in the surrounding area?
BOOZE TRAVELER
"Sicily: A Family Thing" - Premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT (NEW NIGHT!)
