BEHIND ENEMY LINES (FOX, New!) - Writer/director Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("Hostages") is looking to bring the 2001 movie, starring Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman, to the small screen at FOX. The project, which has a put pilot commitment, revolves around "an American flight crew that is shot down while on a secret mission over the jungles of Latin America, their commanding officer aboard an aircraft carrier fighting to bring them home, and a female CIA officer in Washington who stumbles into a sprawling conspiracy that unites them all." Davis Entertainment's John Davis and John Fox as well as Temple Hill Entertainment's Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
SUGARLAND (FOX, New!) - Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson ("New Girl") have snagged a put pilot commitment for a single-camera comedy about "two friends who try and fail to keep work life and personal life separate while working for two difficult bosses." The project, which is loosely based on their real-life experiences, comes from 20th Century Fox Television. Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
TIME AFTER TIME (ABC, New!) - Kevin Williamson ("The Following") is developing a small screen take on Karl Alexander's 1979 novel-turned-movie of the same name in which H.G. Wells builds a real time machine to travels to the future in search of Jack the Ripper. Warner Bros. Television-based Outerbanks Entertainment is behind the hour, home to Williamson's overall deal. TRIAL, THE (Amazon; W: David E. Kelley & Jonathan Shapiro; D: David Semel) - Sarah Wynter is the latest to be cast in the drama project, which centers on Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton), a once respectable lawyer who was ousted from the high-profile firm he co-founded. Billy now spends his days getting drunk, with the occasional case tossed his way by his ex-wife (Maria Bello). She'll play Gina, "a widow contemplating opening a wrongful-death case regarding the passing of her husband, ruled a suicide." Olivia Thirlby, Tania Raymonde and William Hurt also star. Natasha Leggero will guest on Showtime's "Dice" as Andrew Dice Clay's girlfriend Carmen (THR.com); Rafael de la Fuente's Michael Sanchez will return to "Empire" for at least four episodes this season (TVLine.com); Christopher Gorham is bound for two episodes of NBC's "Heartbreaker" as "a sculptural artist who was once a financial hedge fund wiz, but who has since left that life a few years ago in search of sanity and to follow his passion" (EW.com); Dash Mihok will guest on "Chicago PD" as "a panicked father whose daughter is missing" (EW.com); Essie Davis has been cast as "a member of a traveling theater troupe in Braavos" on "Game of Thrones" (THR.com); and Clement Virgo has been tapped to direct and executive produce the pilot for OWN's upcoming "Greenleaf" (Variety.com).
