Inspiring stories chronicling the journeys of world-class athletes Alex Morgan (United States women's soccer team; Portland Thorns FC), Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers), CC Sabathia (New York Yankees), Henrik Lundqvist (New York Rangers) and Tim Howard (United States men's soccer team; Everton Football Club) will be featured in upcoming episodes of Disney XD and ESPN Films' athlete profile documentary series "Becoming." From the producers of ESPN Films' Peabody and Emmy-Award winning "30 for 30" series and executive-produced by LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment, "Becoming" gives young viewers an inside look at the challenges and triumphs of some of their favorite sports stars.
On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT), Disney XD will premiere "Becoming: Alex Morgan," treating audiences to the aspirational story of young American soccer superstar and Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan. Featuring never-before-seen footage of Alex as a young girl and aspiring superstar, the episode spotlights her commitment to her sport, the obstacles she overcame and the career-defining moments as she rose to the top. From the day she first decided to start playing soccer to her team's recent victory at the 2015 FIFA Women's World, viewers will get an intimate look at her ascension to one of the best to play the game.
The "Becoming" pilot aired in October 2014 and told the story of LeBron James.
In addition to LeBron James, Maverick Carter of SpringHill Entertainment, Libby Geist, Erin Leyden and Connor Schell (ESPN Films) also serve as executive producers on the series. It is a production of ESPN Films and SpringHill Entertainment. Bill Simmons also served as producer on "Becoming: Alex Morgan."
