NEW YORK, NY - June 11, 2015 - A&E Network's original real life series "Big Smo" returns for a brand-new season on Tuesday, July 21 at 10 PM ET/PT with back-to-back episodes. The series follows larger-than-life country rapper, Big Smo, as he continues on his wild ride to fame while staying true to his deep Southern roots, lifelong friends, loyal fans and most importantly, his beloved family.
From the small town of Unionville, Tennessee, Big Smo is a country boy turned charismatic country rapper (blending country music, Southern rock and hip-hop) who is currently signed with Warner Bros. Records after spending over a decade churning out music under the radar. While music is Smo's ultimate passion, he's a family man first and foremost. Surrounded by a lively extended entourage including his mother, childhood buddies, loving wife and two young daughters, Smo is driven to stay grounded and succeed in a business known for hard living.
In the aftermath of his first major label release Kuntry Livin', which topped both rap and country charts, Smo continues to convert tentative listeners into fans he affectionately calls Kinfoke. But for every professional milestone achieved is a personal sacrifice made. Hectic touring schedules and label demands don't make it easy for Smo to find balance between his role as an artist with that of a father, husband and son. As Smo works to secure a second album with Warner, he also strives to carve out quality time with his wife, help his daughters through their teenage angst and support his mom during the family's biggest challenge to date, her battle with cancer. Professionally, Smo will celebrate big wins like performing with rock legend Lynyrd Skynyrd and country superstar John Rich, alongside devastating blows like losing his writing partner and bandmate. But through it all, Smo's tenacity, coupled with the love he has for his family, is all the motivation he needs to fight for his continued success every step of the way.
"Big Smo" is produced by Brownstone Entertainment for A&E Network. Executive producers for Brownstone Entertainment are Drew Brown and Bob Gillan. Dan Nelson and Pete DeLasho also serve as executive producers and Nicco Ardin is co-executive producer. Executive producers for A&E Network are Evan Lerner and Laurie Sharpe.
