COMEDY CENTRAL(R) RENEWS "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING" FOR A SECOND SEASON
Executive Produced by Ari Shaffir, Jeff Tomsic, Eric Abrams and Avalon's Sam Saifer
NEW YORK, June 8, 2015 - Comedy Central has renewed the Ari Shaffir-hosted comedic storytelling series "This Is Not Happening" for a second season, it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Original Programming, Comedy Central. Executive produced by Shaffir, Jeff Tomsic, Eric Abrams and Avalon's Sam Saifer, eight episodes will premiere next year.
"'This Is Not Happening' is not, not happening. It is happening," said Alterman.
"Honestly, I'm really happy with the way it came out," added Shaffir. "There are so many crazy talented comics right now. It's kind of an honor to provide a platform for them to show everybody how great they are."
"This Is Not Happening" features Shaffir and his comedian friends telling hilarious and true stories in front of a live audience at Cheetahs in Hollywood. Throughout the first season, comedians including Rob Corddry, D.L. Hughley, Keegan-Michael Key, Bert Kreischer, Marc Maron, Steve Rannazzisi, Joe Rogan and Paul Scheer told their favorite, most embarrassing, or just plain funniest true-life tales around topics including Drugs, Emergencies, Wonder Years, Battles, Romance, and Travel. Each episode featured a custom opening that puts Shaffir into a ludicrous situation, dreamed (nightmared) up by director Jeff Tomsic. "This Is Not Happening" originally debuted as a digital series on cc.com and the site continues to feature exclusive digital stories throughout the run of new episodes. Anne Harris is the Executive in Charge for Comedy Central.
Shaffir is repped by The Gersh Agency and Avalon's Sam Saifer.
