Spring 2015 Highlights
truTV, which recently began rolling out an extensive slate of new series, is set to keep the fun going through Spring 2015 with new premieres and existing series' returning to the network.
In May, truTV will welcome back eye-popping performance competition series Fake Off (May 6) for season 2 with new judges Beau Casper Smart and Laurieann Gibson joining Harry Shum Jr. as well as new host Corbin Bleu. New docu-series The Hustlers (May 4) gives an inside look at the cut throat world of competitive pool players; How to Be a Grown Up (June 2) returns with more comedic advice on the relatable trials and tribulations of true adulthood. Eight new episodes of bar and business competition series Barmageddon (June 1) will also premiere this spring.
Below is a rundown of truTV's programming highlights for Spring 2015.
truTV & Top Rank: Friday Night Primetime Boxing - Series Premiere: Friday, May 1 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
truTV and Top Rank will partner to exclusively televise a live Friday night primetime boxing series beginning Friday, May 1, at 10 p.m. ET. The new boxing series, in association with Turner Sports and HBO Sports, will launch on the eve of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view fight with a card featuring two title bouts inside The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The main event on Friday, May 1, will showcase Takahiro Ao (27-3-1, 16 KOs) from Chiba, Japan, vs. Ray Beltran (29-7-1, 17 KOs) from Los Mochis, Mexico, in a 12-round bout for the vacant WBO Lightweight World Championship. The undercard will include two undefeated fighters in action - Mikael Zewski (26-0, 23 KOs) from Quebec, Canada, vs. Konstantin Ponomarev (27-0, 13 KOs) from Miass, Russia - in a 10-round bout for the NABF Welterweight Championship.
The Hustlers - Series Premiere: Monday, May 4 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)
Get an inside look at the high-stakes world of competitive pool with truTV's The Hustlers. This new docu-series follows top-ranked pool sharks as they play for cash, pride and bragging rights. Every player worth his or her weight in chalk must earn a spot at the table, but having the skills to sink balls is only part of the game. Alliances are formed, but when big money and even bigger egos come into play, friendships are fleeting. Negotiating your way back into good standing takes as much skill as the game itself.
truTV has ordered 10 one hour episodes for this series, which comes to the network from Pilgrim Studios.
Fake Off - Season Two Premiere: Wednesday, May 6 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
A competition series that stands out from the rest, truTV's Fake Off takes viewers into the visually stunning world of Faking: a mix of theater, acrobatics, black light and illusion.
Actor and dancer Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) is set to host as ten teams from around the country compete in the captivating art of Faking. In each episode, teams are challenged to reimagine iconic moments in pop culture to see who's got the skills to be named America's Fake Off champions and walk away with a $100,000 cash prize. Harry Shum Jr. (Glee, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2) returns to the judging panel, and is joined by two new judges: actress, choreographer and Emmy(R)-nominated director Laurieann Gibson (Lady Gaga Presents: The Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden, Making the Band) and actor, creative director and choreographer Beau Casper Smart (Street, Big Bang Theory, Nick Jonas, Jennifer Lopez). Meghan Camarena better known as YouTube sensation Strawburry17 will serve as backstage correspondent, a new role created this season.
truTV has ordered 8 one-hour episodes for season 2 of Fake Off, which is produced by Endemol Shine North America.
Barmageddon - New Episodes starting Monday, June 1 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
Returning with even higher stakes, including a $10,000 grand prize, Barmageddon is an engaging competition series that seeks to settle once and for all which bar owner has the best recipe for success. In each episode, comedian Mo Mandel travels to a different city and pits two bar owners against each other while providing insider facts, tips, and tricks. The goal is to see who can turn the most profit...while running the other owner's bar. The result is a wild rollercoaster ride of comical conflicts and one-upmanship as the bosses compete to see who can win over new staff and customers with their charm, expertise and skill.
truTV has ordered eight additional one-hour episodes of Barmageddon. Barmageddon is produced by ITV Studios America & Gaspin Media.
How to Be a Grown Up - Season 2 Premiere: Tuesday, June 2 at 10p.m. (ET/PT)
How to Be a GrownUp is a very funny take on advice shows, with top-name comics offering humorous guidance and common-sense solutions to universal issues facing all adults who feel like they're a kid stuck in a grown-up body. The advice is delivered through interviews, sketches and field pieces. If you're 40-going-on-21, this is the series for you.
truTV has ordered 12 half-hour episodes for this series, which comes to the network from MissionControl Media.
