INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY GREENLIGHTS FIRST SCRIPTED ORIGINAL, "SERIAL THRILLER"

-- Produced by October Films, Three-Part Television Event Based on the True Story of a Prolific American Serial Killer Will Premiere Summer 2015 on ID --

(New York, N.Y.) - Investigation Discovery (ID) today announced its first foray into scripted programming with SERIAL THRILLER, a three-part miniseries event that propels viewers into the heart of a community terrorized by a real-life serial killer. The eerie outcome may be ripped from the headlines, but SERIAL THRILLER deepens the narrative by delving into the untold personal stories of the residents, the victims and those in charge of the criminal investigation. All on a collision course with fate, their complex lives intertwine as investigators decode the mystery of one of America's most notorious serial killers - and try to capture him before he kills again. The murderer's identity will be a mystery at first, leaving viewers to unravel the clues from episode to episode, with each character's vivid storyline serving as a reminder that behind every crime are real people and lives devastatingly transformed. SERIAL THRILLER makes its world premiere on ID in summer 2015.

"SERIAL THRILLER is truly a tent-pole series for ID with the exciting new scripted serial format that enhances our already suspenseful programming," said Henry Schleiff, Group President at Discovery. "For the first time ever, ID provides viewers with the experience of watching an engaging and chilling scripted drama as seen through our authentic, true-crime filter - one that keeps our fans coming back over and over again."

SERIAL THRILLER will premiere on ID in summer 2015 and is also being distributed as a theatrical release to the global market. It is produced for Investigation Discovery by October Films with Matt Robins, Steve Murphy and Lindsay Shapero as executive producers and is written and directed by Jamie Crawford. For Investigation Discovery, Eugenie Vink is executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production, Kevin Bennett is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President.

Matt Robins, creative director of October Films, says: "Our ambition was to view the story of a serial killer through an entirely new lens and to put the ferocity and significance of the crimes firmly back into the present tense for the viewer. Bringing this story to life as scripted drama has been a long-held aspiration for everyone at October, and we are proud of the stellar editorial and production team we've brought in to realize such a bold project."
