ASH VS EVIL DEAD (Starz; W: Ivan Raimi, Sam Raimi & Tom Spezialy; D: Sam Raimi) - Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo have both landed roles on the series, a small screen look at Ash (Bruce Campbell), the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Santiago will play Pablo Simon Bolivar, "an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash's loyal sidekick - a Sancho Panza to Ash's Don Quixote"; with DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, "a moody wild child trying to outrun her past; reluctantly dragged into the fight against Evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers." (Deadline.com)

CRIMINAL MINDS (CBS) - Daniel Henney ("Revolution") is the latest to board the show's proposed spin-off, about FBI agents helping American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad. He'll play "charming family man Matt Simmons, an army brat who grew up abroad and really embraces the opportunity to explore different cultures. But first and foremost, he is the kind of guy you would follow into battle, and his split second profiling skills honed on the battlefield make him a crucial part of the team." Anna Gunn, Gary Sinise and Tyler James Williams also star. (Deadline.com)

DOUBT (A.K.A. UNTITLED PHELAN & RATER PROJECT) (CBS/CBSP; W: Joan Rater & Tony Phelan; D: TBA) - Laverne Cox ("Orange Is the New Black") is the first to board the drama pilot, about a smart, successful 30-something defense attorney who shockingly falls for one of her clients who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime. She's set as Cameron Wirth, "a fierce and funny, competitive and compassionate transgender Ivy League-educated attorney. The fact that she's experienced injustice first hand makes her fight all the harder for her clients." (Deadline.com)

HYENA (HBO, New!) - Ally Musika ("Entourage") is spearheading a new comedy based on the life of hip-hop radio host Jude Angelini. Said effort is based on Angelini's book of the same name, which "chronicles his journey from growing up in a factory town outside of Detroit and explores drugs, sex, and the human condition." Said duo will pen the script and executive produce alongside fellow "Entourage" alums Stephen Levinson of Leverage Entertainment and Mark Wahlberg of Closest to the Hole Productions. (Deadline.com)

YOU (Showtime, New!) - Sera Gamble ("Supernatural") is looking to bring Caroline Kepnes's novel - about "the obsessive yet brilliant twentysomething Joe Goldberg who uses the hyper-connected digital age to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him" - to the small screen. Greg Berlanti is on board to direct and executive produce the Warner Bros Television-based hour alongside Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Cheryl Dolins and Berlanti Productions' Sarah Schechter. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Jon Turteltaub has signed on to direct and executive produce the CBS pilot "Rush Hour" (Deadline.com); David Slade will likewise serve as director/executive producer on the Eye's "LFE" with David Marshall Grant serving as showrunner (Deadline.com); Katheryn Winnick will guest on "Person of Interest" as "a resourceful, relentless bounty hunter who enjoys her job of chasing down bad guys perhaps a bit too much" (TVLine.com); Margo Martindale will return to "The Americans" as the Jennings' ex-KGB supervisor Claudia (TVLine.com); Agnes Bruckner has booked a three-episode arc on "Once Upon a Time" in a yet-to-be-revealed role (THR.com); and Skyler Samuels is the latest to board FOX's upcoming anthology series "Scream Queens" (Variety.com).
