CODE BLACK (CBS/ABCS/CBSP; W: Michael Seitzman; D: David Semel) - Michael Seitzman's drama - "set in the busiest and most notorious ER in the nation - LA County Hospital - where the extraordinary staff confronts a broken system in order to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most" - has been ordered to pilot by the Eye. In addition, David Semel has signed on to direct the pilot, a co-production of ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios. Linda Goldstein Knowlton, Marti Noxon and Ryan McGarry then will executive produce alongside Seitzman and Semel. (Deadline.com)


CRIMINAL MINDS (CBS) - Tyler James Williams ("The Walking Dead") has joined the cast of the show's proposed spin-off, about FBI agents helping American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad. He'll play "the sweet and incredibly smart Monty. As the team's tech analyst, Monty stays at home while the team works abroad. His attention to detail and kind manner are invaluable as he liaises with the families of those in trouble and uses his tech savvy to help the team fill in the holes as they search for a killer far from home." Gary Sinise also stars. (Deadline.com)


HALF OF IT, THE (CBS, New!) - Mike Gibbons ("Tosh.0") has received a pilot order for a new multi-camera comedy about "a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married." CBS Television Studios is producing. Gibbons also serves as a co-executive producer on the network's upcoming "Late Late Show with James Corden." (Deadline.com)


VIRTUOSO (HBO, New!) - Elton John and Alan Ball are set to team for a new period drama at the pay channel "set against the complex and volatile backdrop of 18th century Vienna and follows a class of young musical prodigies from all over Europe at the prestigious Academy of Musical Excellence." The project, which has a pilot order, was written by Ball from a story he co-wrote with Peter Macdissi and Steve Hamilton Shaw. Macdissi will likewise star as "composer and teacher Antonio Salieri, who runs the musical conservatory"; with Iva Babic as Leonid, "a Russian cello prodigy"; Francois Civil as Isidoro, "a Spanish guitar and flute prodigy"; Lindsay Farris as Heinrich, "an Austrian piano prodigy"; Nico Mirallegro as Franz, "an Austrian self-taught violin prodigy"; and Alex Lawther as Battista, "an Italian castrato prodigy." Production will begin this spring in Budapest. Ball, Macdissi, Shaw, John and David Furnish are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
