In SAG Awards History With 21st Nomination
HOMELAND's Much Buzzed About Fourth Seasoned Recognized With Three Actor Noms Including Outstanding Ensemble
NEW YORK - December 10, 2014 - SHOWTIME was honored with five Actor(R) nominations for The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) presented by SAG-AFTRA, tying the record for the most nominations ever in the network's history. NURSE JACKIE's Edie Falco became the most nominated actor in SAG Awards history with her 21st nomination this morning for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. Continuing the wave of acclaim for its much buzzed about fourth season, HOMELAND was honored with three nominations including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, a nod for Claire Danes for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and a nom for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series. SHOWTIME is also the only cable network to be recognized for both male and female actors in a comedy series nominations this year with nods for SHAMELESS' William H. Macy and NURSE JACKIE's Edie Falco.
For the third consecutive year, the cast of HOMELAND was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and Claire Danes received her third consecutive nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. Danes won the Actor in 2013 for her critically-acclaimed performance as "Carrie Mathison." Additionally, the stunt cast of HOMELAND was nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series for the second consecutive year. HOMELAND airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
NURSE JACKIE's Edie Falco was recognized for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as "Jackie Peyton," her sixth nomination for her work on the series - with five individual noms and an ensemble nod in 2013. Falco has previously won five Screen Actors Guild Awards. Overall, Falco has been previously nominated 12 times for individual performances and eight times for ensemble performances. The seventh and final season of NURSE JACKIE will air in 2015.
After making the switch to the comedy category this year, SHAMELESS star William H. Macy was honored with his first series nomination for his role as "Frank Gallagher" for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. This is Macy's eighth Screen Actors Guild nomination overall. SHAMELESS returns for a fifth season on Sunday, January 11th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
