ELTON JOHN JOINS BIGGEST CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR WITH A LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM BROOKYLN'S BARCLAYS CENTER
"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015"
Begins Live at 8pm ET/PT on ABC from New York's Times Square
Music legend Elton John will perform his anthem "I'm Still Standing" in a special live appearance from his concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015." This is the first time Elton has performed in New York on New Year's Eve and his performance will take place right after the ball drops, ringing in the start to 2015. Joining the biggest music celebration in the show's history, John's performance will be one of over 38 performances throughout the night which begins at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31 on the ABC Television Network.
The bi-coastal celebration will include hours of special performances and reports on New Year's celebrations from around the globe, and Ryan Seacrest will lead the traditional countdown to midnight from Times Square in New York City as he has for the last 9 years. As previously announced, Jenny McCarthy will be live in Times Square where Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, MAGIC! and Idina Menzel will perform for over one million fans. Fergie hosts the Billboard Hollywood Party and also performs along with previously announced performers Charli XCX, One Direction and Meghan Trainor. Gavin DeGraw and Lady Antebellum will perform live from Nashville, Tennessee.
The monumental career of international singer/songwriter and performer Elton John has spanned more than five decades. He is one of the top selling solo artists of all time, with 35 gold and 25 platinum albums, and he has sold more than 250 million records worldwide. John holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time, "Candle in the Wind," which sold 37 million copies. In 2014, a Special Anniversary Edition of Elton's 1973 album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, was released. John has been awarded five Grammys(R), the Grammy(R) Legend Award, and has been honored with the Music Cares Person of the Year Award. John was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Additionally, John was the first artist honored by the Billboard Touring Conference with its Legend of Live award. He continues to tour all over the world, including his current 3-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas called "The Million Dollar Piano." The smash-hit stage production of Billy Elliot, for which John composed the music, was nominated for a record-tying 15 Tony Awards and won 10 including Best Musical. John received an Academy Award for The Lion King and Tony Awards for both The Lion King and Aida. Since 1992, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised more than $300 million for HIV prevention, treatment, and advocacy programs across the globe. In 1998, the Queen of England knighted him Sir Elton John, CBE. In 2004, John received the Kennedy Center Honor for his lifetime contributions to American culture and excellence through the performing arts, and in 2013, Elton was the first recipient of the BRITs Icon Award.
