GWEN STEFANI, PHARRELL WILLIAMS TEAM UP TO PERFORM "SPARK THE FIRE"
Performance Set for Monday, Dec. 1 Telecast of NBC's Emmy Award-Winning "The Voice"
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Nov. 24, 2014 - Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams, coaches on NBC's Emmy Award-winning competition series "The Voice," will team up to perform "Spark the Fire" on the two-hour Monday, Dec. 1 telecast (8-10 p.m. ET/PT).
"Spark the Fire" is a new song off of Stefani's upcoming album. The musical collaboration between Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams is a reunion of sorts - the two worked together on Stefani's massive 2005 hit "Hollaback Girl." "Spark the Fire" will be available for digital download on Dec. 1.
A three-time Grammy winner, Stefani, who is currently putting the finishing touches on her new album, has achieved worldwide success as a performer, songwriter and recording artist selling more than 30 million albums worldwide with No Doubt and as a multi-platinum solo artist. After the double-platinum No Doubt retrospective "Singles Collection," featuring the hit "It's My Life," Stefani released two highly successful solo albums - "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" and "The Sweet Escape" - featuring hit singles "Rich Girl," "Sweet Escape," "What Are You Waiting For?" and "Hollaback Girl," a No. 1 single that was the first digital download to sell more than 1 million copies in the United States.
Williams, who has sold more than 100 million albums, has won seven Grammy Awards and ASCAP's prestigious Golden Note Award in 2012. He also received a 2014 Academy Award nomination for his original song "Happy," featured in the animated film "Despicable Me 2." "Happy" remained atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 10 consecutive weeks and peaked at #1 on iTunes in 103 markets worldwide.
Debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, Williams' latest album, "Girl," was released in March to rave reviews.
Through the season's opening eight weeks, "The Voice" ranks as television's #1 reality series in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics, with its Monday and Tuesday editions combining to average a 4.2 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49 and 13.9 million viewers overall in "most current" figures from Nielsen Media Research. The Monday edition is the #5 entertainment series on the Big 4 networks so far this season with a 4.5 average in 18-49, leading NBC's Monday schedule to the #1 ranking among Big 4 entertainment lineups so far this season.
"The Voice" is a presentation of United Artists Media Group (an MGM company), Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Marc Jansen and Lee Metzger.
