INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY TURNS THE PAGES OF THE DEADLIEST STORIES WITH NEW SERIES -- "MURDER BOOK" PREMIERING DECEMBER 2

-- "Dexter" Actor Geoff Pierson Lends Distinctive Voice to Narrate Murder Mystery Series --

(Silver Spring, Md) -- Contained within dusty storage drawers and dented metal cabinets of police stations everywhere, is a library of binders comprising detailed information about gruesome crimes. They may look like ordinary notebooks and folders, but each of them holds the plea of their victim waiting for the day that someone will finally catch their killer. This is their MURDER BOOK, a new Investigation Discovery series premiering Tuesday, December 2 at 9/8c. Stories are told in first-person interviews with the lead investigators as well as in the voice of veteran actor, Geoff Pierson, known for playing several law enforcement roles through the years, including the part of Deputy Chief Tom Matthews on "Dexter."

"This uniquely compelling series takes viewers back in time with an in-depth look at decades-old cold cases using actual archival footage, interviews and evidence from the period of the murders," said Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination American, American Heroes Channel, Discovery Family Channel and Discovery Fit & Health. "Told in a page-turning narrative by the detectives themselves, these mysteries are revealed to the audience like a book... a MURDER BOOK."

From the moment a homicide is reported, a file is assembled to document every facet of the investigation -- crime scene photos, notes and observations, forensic reports, witness interviews and suspect profiles - and continues to grow with new information until an arrest is made and conviction attained. The new one-hour series opens the MURDER BOOK to tell the haunting stories buried within the pages. The lead investigator takes us through the book unraveling the mystery of these cold cases, page by page, ultimately uncovering what broke the case wide open.

The premiere line-up for MURDER BOOK is as follows:

Whispers from the Woods Premieres Tuesday, December 2 at 9/8c In the late 80s and early 90s a series of terrifying crimes rock the town of Gainesville, Florida. One of the missing is Tiffany Sessions, a 20-year old college student who goes for a walk, and is never seen again. A few years later another student, Elizabeth Foster, also disappears. For years detectives compare notes in both cases but it's more than two decades before they link vital evidence to a calculating killer who's kept his own cryptic log of murder.

The Long Walk Home Premieres Tuesday, December 9 at 9/8c In 1977, high school senior Mary Quigley is found raped and brutally murdered in her hometown of Santa Clara, California. But despite their best efforts, detectives close the investigation without finding her killer. As time passes, her murder book grows - as does the determination of the cold case detectives. Nearly three decades after the crime, police finally receive the evidence they need to identify Mary's killer.

Hiding in the Shadows Premieres Tuesday, December 16 at 9/8c While the rest of his family sleeps, a young man is viciously stabbed and killed in his own bedroom. The murderer slips out of the house and into the night - unaware that a 13-year old girl has seen him - and for years the murder will haunt Melissa Kountz, the young girl who witnessed her cousin's killer. The 1983 case grows cold, but in 2012, a veteran homicide detective finds clues and ultimately solves the mystery.

On The Logging Road Premieres Tuesday, December 23 at 9/8c A young woman is found murdered on a remote logging road in the usually quiet town of Aberdeen, Washington. Short on leads, the case soon goes cold, but five years later; another victim is found murdered on the same stretch of road. As investigators review the murder books for both killings, they see remarkable similarities, but still no break. It's not until there's another vicious attack in the same community that leads police to a ruthless killer.

MURDER BOOK is produced for Investigation Discovery by LMNO with Eric Schotz and Lisa Bourgoujian serving as executive producers. For Investigation Discovery, Liz Massie is executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production, Kevin Bennett is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President.
