LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
ALL IN (CBS, New!) - Ben McMillan ("Max and Shred") has sold a new hybrid comedy to the Eye about "a woman who, after a tough breakup and a couple of one-night stands, finds herself pregnant - and all three possible fathers are determined to help her raise the baby." Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour with Olive Bridge Entertainment's Will Gluck and Richard Schwartz and Intrigue's Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
EVIL MEN (USA, New!) - Daniel Taplitz (Breakin' All the Rules) has scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new drama about Harry Killas, "an upstanding, middle-class family man whose life is turned upside down when he is approached by a frighteningly powerful entity and commanded to kill evil men or see his family - along with his city - utterly destroyed. However, the gleeful psycho who is meant to be his first target, instead begins teaching him how to carry out his new destiny." Dallas Roberts and Clifton Collins Jr. have already been tapped to star as Harry Killas and Lazlo Kirk, "the profoundly evil former war criminal with magnetic charm and a deep, unpredictable violent streak, who forces himself into Harry's life on a twisted mission of personal redemption," respectively. Gary Fleder is also on board to direct and executive produce alongside Mary Beth Basile, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for Universal Cable Productions and CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS (NBC, New!) - The Peacock is looking to revive the 1984-1995 syndicated series famously hosted by Robin Leach, which takes viewers on a fabulous ride through the world's most glamorous and decadent locations, where the rich and famous mix, mingle and lavishly live it up. NBC's now defunct sibling Style Network originally developed "Lifestyles" in 2013 with Nick Cannon as host. Cannon remains attached to the project, which will film a new pilot that "will focus heavily on Cannon's point of view and include fun profiles on ultra-wealthy individuals with vibrant personalities, hobbies and tastes." Cannon is also executive producing alongside Brad Bishop, Daniel Rappaport, Josh Bingham, Michael Goldman, Scott Lambert and Tom Forman. (THR.com)
OUTSIDERS (WGN; W: Peter Mattei; D: TBA) - Thomas M. Wright ("The Bridge") is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, about a struggle for power and control set in the rugged and mysterious hills of Appalachia. He's set as Sheriff Houghton, "a good cop, a functioning bureaucrat in a world that doesn't ask a lot of him, but just below the surface is a deeply troubled man." (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Sons of Anarchy" co-executive producer Mike Daniels has inked a two-year overall deal with Universal Television, where he'll join NBC's Jennifer Lopez-led "Shades of Blue", also as a co-executive producer (Deadline.com); James Martinez will recur on NBC's "Aquarius" as Ruben Salazar, "a former war correspondent and a reporter with the Los Angeles Times who is threatening to expose the true identity of an LAPD detective" (Deadline.com); Melinda Page Hamilton has scored an arc on USA's "The Dig" as Sandra, "one of Tad Billingham's (David Costabile) disciples at his compound in Arizona" (Deadline.com); Sharon Osbourne is looking to revive "The Osbournes" as an six-to-eight episode series (EW.com); and Julia Garner will recur on "The Americans" as "a young woman who unexpectedly - and dangerously - crosses paths with the Jennings" (THR.com).
