EROTIC SILENCE OF THE AMERICAN WIFE, THE (ABC, New!) - Sally Robinson (Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about "a group of disparate women united by a single trait - they're all having illicit affairs." Flame Ventures' Tony Krantz and Drew Comins will also serve as executive producer and co-executive producer, respectively. (Deadline.com)

SLAP, THE (NBC/Universal; W: Jon Robin Baitz; D: Lisa Cholodenko) - Lucas Hedges (Kill The Messenger) and Penn Badgley ("Gossip Girl") have both landed roles on the limited series, a complex family drama that explodes from one small incident where a man slaps another couple's misbehaving child. The former will play Ritchie, "Connie's (Makenzie Leigh) good friend who accompanies her to Hector's birthday party"; while the latter is set as Jamie, "Anouk's (Mary Louise-Parker) 25-year-old boyfriend." Brian Cox, Peter Sarsgaard, Zachary Quinto, Thandie Newton and Thomas Sadoski also star. (Deadline.com)
