(New York, NY) - October 9, 2014 - MTV's multi-year campaign, "Look Different," today announced a robust, week-long programming initiative across MTV, mtvU and Logo TV that will shine a spotlight on the ever-important issues of race, gender, and anti-LGBT bias. Following the launch of several impactful initiatives, including high-profile on-air spots that aired during the recent 2014 "MTV Video Music Awards," the "Look Different" theme week represents the next step in the campaign's mission of engaging young people to recognize and challenge the hidden bias that exists around us all. To date, over half a million young people have already taken action against bias through the campaign.

Beginning on Monday, October 13 and culminating on Friday, October 17 with the premiere of the original documentary "Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word," MTV and Logo TV will leverage their platforms to raise awareness and inspire action through candid comedy, real-world stories, and social conversation featuring a diverse group of talent including Emmy-nominated actress and transgender advocate Laverne Cox, the cast of MTV's Girl Code and mtvU's Quinn Marcus. In addition, MTV, MTV2, Logo TV and mtvU will "go purple" on-air and online on Thursday, October 16 for Spirit Day to take a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.

"Look Different" will also launch a custom resource hub on LookDifferent.org, trans.lookdifferent.org, where young people can learn more about being transgender, get tips on how to be an ally to the transgender community, get help, and share their personal stories about living authentically using #livemytruth.

The full line-up of programming includes:

"Look Different" Takes Over mtvU with Debut of New Bias-Themed "Quinnterviews": Comedian, host, and Good Look Panelist Quinn Marcus has teamed up with MTV's Look Different campaign to bring you a special "Quinnterviews" from CSU Dominguez-Hills, where she'll explore how Millennials view equality today, and hear how they're experiencing racial, gender, and anti-LGBT bias. In addition, viewers will see "Look Different"-themed Need2Know factoids airing throughout the week on the network, to educate them on the issue.

Tuesday, October 14:

Thursday, October 16:

MTV, MTV2, mtvU and Logo TV Go Purple for Spirit Day: For the fourth year in a row, MTV will be supporting GLAAD's Spirit Day. To take a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth, MTV, MTV2, Logo TV and mtvU will "go purple" on-air and online in support of Spirit Day, and Viacom's Times Square jumbotron will turn purple and run an anti-bullying message.

Laverne Cox Lights Empire State Building in Purple for Spirit Day and National Bullying Prevention Month: Laverne Cox will be joined by GLAAD, the Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER) and the cast featured in her forthcoming documentary, "Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word," to light the iconic Empire State Building in purple in recognition of Spirit Day and National Bullying Prevention Month.

Friday, October 17:

"Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word" Premiere on MTV and Logo TV: On Friday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, MTV and Logo TV will simultaneously premiere "Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word." Hosted and executive produced by Emmy-nominated actress and transgender advocate Laverne Cox, the one-hour documentary will take viewers inside the lives of seven transgender youth. Ranging in age from 12 to 24, and hailing from across the country, each subject will share their determination to live their lives authentically, as the person they are meant to be. With varying levels of parental and social support, the documentary explores the intersection of transgender identities and race through each individual's journey as they overcome challenges such as coming out, bullying, and anti-transgender violence.

Immediately following the documentary's premiere, Laverne Cox will host the one hour "Trans Forum" with SuChin Pak live on Logo TV and MTV.com where she and the subjects of the documentary will discuss transgender issues as well as answer questions from a live audience and via social media.

LookDifferent.org:

LookDifferent.org serves as the campaign hub and, along with the campaign's social accounts (Twitter, Tumblr), helps young people recognize bias in themselves and their surroundings - while providing clear guidance and helpful resources they can use to challenge bias when they see it. Previously announced components include: Implicit Bias Quiz (link) to reveal automatic associations people may have about different races, a seven-day Racial Bias Cleanse (link) to help people begin unlearning biases that have built up over years, and an interactive #GoodLook/#NotAGoodLook social media campaign that calls upon audiences to share real-life scenarios that either challenge or promote bias. In addition, the campaign has been actively working with its "Good Look Panel" to help young people look differently at complex issues and participate in an open dialogue with experts, youth advocates, musicians and MTV talent, including fun. and Bleachers member and Ally Coalition co-founder, Jack Antonoff.

Viewers of the documentary and forum will also be directed to Look Different's custom hub at trans.lookdifferent.org for resources and ways to take action.

"Look Different" partners include the Anti-Defamation League, Define America, NAACP, National Council of La Raza, The National Partnership for Women & Families, The Trevor Project and more.
