Texas Native Jane Slater Hired as New Longhorn Network Reporter

Starting Monday, Sept. 22, Rowlett, Texas native Jane Slater is joining Longhorn Network as a studio host and reporter. Along with reporting for LHN games and Texas GameDay, Slater will also host Longhorn Extra, and work on feature stories for various LHN programming.

"Jane's sports and television expertise really stood out as we went through the interview and audition process," said LHN coordinating producer Tom McCollum. "We are excited to have her on the LHN team and expect she will make an immediate impact to our coverage."

Slater has accumulated an impressive resume of reporting experience since graduating from the University of Texas with dual degrees in journalism and government. She most recently worked for CBS in Dallas covering the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars and college programs SMU, TCU and North Texas. While there she anchored a one-hour daily sports show, as well as the pre and post-game shows for the city's professional teams.

Slater's television experience began in news, working seven years as an anchor and reporter.

"This really is a dream come true. The idea of returning to Austin and working for Longhorn Network and ESPN--- it doesn't get any better than that. I have really enjoyed watching Sam (Ponder) and Kaylee (Hartung) excel in this position and hope I can keep that tradition going, " said Slater.
