BARRIO, THE (ABC, New!) - "Blue Mountain State" co-creator Eric Falconer has sold a semi-autobiographical single-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "a TV writer who, after losing his job, moves his family from Santa Monica to a predominantly Mexican neighborhood in East LA in order to save money." CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached, with Amigos de Garcia's Greg Garcia also attached as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
BRAIN, THE (CBS, New!) - Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely) has sold a multi-camera comedy to the Eye about "an unintelligent guy who suffers head trauma and turns into a genius. That puts a strain on his family and friends, who liked him better when he was clueless." CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
CODE BLACK (CBS, New!) - Michael Seitzman ("Intelligence") has landed a put pilot commitment from the Eye for a new drama which "tells the story of one young doctor who has just joined the extraordinary staff of Los Angeles' busiest ER as they struggle in the face of a broken system to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most." The ABC Studios-based project is based on Ryan McGarry's feature documentary of the same name with Seitzman, McGarry, Linda Goldstein Knowlton and Marti Noxon executive producing. (Deadline.com)
GRACE & FRANKIE (Netflix; W: Howard J. Morris & Marta Kaufman; D: Tate Taylor) - Joe Morton, Geoff Stults and Barry Bostwick have all landed roles on the comedy series, which focuses on nemeses Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) facing the last chapter of their lives, though not in the way they expected. When their husbands (Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston) announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married, the women find their lives both turned upside down and to their dismay, permanently intertwined. Stults will recur as Mitch, "Mallory's (Brooklyn Decker) husband of seven years"; with Morton as Jason, "one of Frankie and Sol's oldest, dearest friends"; and Bostwick as Bill, "an old friend of Grace and Robert's who is also newly divorced and knows exactly what Grace is going through." Ethan Embry and June Diane Raphael also star. (THR.com)
UNTITLED FREDDIE HIGHMORE/KERRY EHRIN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - "Bates Motel" co-star Freddie Highmore and co-creator Kerry Ehrin have sold a romantic comedy to the network about "the intimate relationship between an overly emotional-but-talented female executive and her ambitious and eccentric young British assistant." No studio was listed for the half-hour project, which is set in the world of venture capitalism. (Deadline.com)

Television (Deadline.com); "Breaking Bad" alum Aaron Paul has likewise signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television (Deadline.com); Courtney B.
