MEGA-WATT TEEN STAR ZENDAYA HEADLINES THE COMEDIC ADVENTURE "ZAPPED," A DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE SET TO PREMIERE FRIDAY, JUNE 27 ON DISNEY CHANNEL
--Available to Verified WATCH Disney Channel Viewers on Monday, June 23--
Multi-talented recording artist/actress Zendaya ("Dancing with the Stars," "Shake It Up"), headlines the comedic Disney Channel Original Movie "Zapped," the story of Zoey, a girl whose well-ordered life is up-ended when her mother remarries and she finds herself part of a family composed of rambunctious, chaotic - and most of all - messy boys and a male dog, to boot. She finds salvation in the unlikeliest of places when she unwittingly comes into possession of a smartphone app that magically controls boys. Spencer Boldman (Disney XD's "Lab Rats") stars as Jackson, the one guy at school who stands apart from everyone else.
"Zapped" premieres FRIDAY, JUNE 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel, ushering in the premiere of the highly-anticipated "Girl Meets World" (9:45 p.m., ET/PT), a comedy series for kids and families from executive producer Michael Jacobs ("Boy Meets World"). The movie is preceded by a new episode of "Jessie" (7:30 p.m.) in which Jessie races against obstacles and the clock, in a real-time countdown, to ensure the Ross kids get to school on time.
"Zapped" also stars Chanelle Peloso ("Radio Rebel") as Zoey's best friend Rachel Todds; Emilia McCarthy ("Hemlock Grove") as Taylor Dean, captain of the rival dance squad; and Adam DiMarco ("Radio Rebel") as Adam Thompson, the eldest of Zoey's impossible step-brothers.
The movie was directed by Peter DeLuise ("16 Wishes," "Kyle XY") and executive-produced by Jane Goldenring ("Radio Rebel," "My First Mister"), Carol Baum ("Father of the Bride," "The Good Girl"), Michael Prupas ("The Kennedys," "Cyberbully") and Harvey Khan ("Spooksville"). The producer is Lisa Towers ("The Christmas Choir"). Based on the popular book Boys Are Dogs by Leslie Margolis, the screenplay was written by Rachelle Skoretz with revisions by Matt Eddy and Billy Eddy. Aakomon "AJ" Jones ("Pitch Perfect") is the choreographer.
Beginning Thursday, May 29, kids and families can visit DisneyChannel.com/zapped to play the new Zapped game and control the smartphone that controls the boys.
