OSCAR LOPEZ MAKES HISTORY AS FIRST-EVER WINNER
OF PROJECT RUNWAY: UNDER THE GUNN
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 10, 2014) - Lifetime's Project Runway: Under the Gunn (#UndertheGunn), hosted by Emmy(R) Award winner Tim Gunn, crowns Cuban native Oscar Lopez as the winner of the inaugural season after a star-studded fashion show at the Los Angeles Theater. Up against fellow designers Asha Daniels, Sam Donovan and Shan Keith, Lopez, with the help of his mentor, Nick Verreos, impressed the esteemed judges' panel, which included designer Rachel Roy, celebrity stylist Jen Rade, Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi and special guest judges, Heidi Klum (Project Runway) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother). Ultimately it was the beauty and sophistication of Lopez's five-piece collection that lead the judges to choose him as the season's winner.
As the winner of Project Runway: Under the Gunn, Lopez will receive a cash prize of $100,000; a top of the line sewing and embroidery studio courtesy of Brother International Corporation; an all-expense paid inspirational trip to Paris, courtesy of Blowpro the blowout experts; Blowpro hair styling products; a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine; a 2014 Lexus CT 200h; and the opportunity to design a collection sold exclusively at francesca's(R), your destination for unique clothing, jewelry and accessories.
Lopez also receives the opportunity work closely with the Benefit Cosmetics' creative team to design a new uniform for their field, showcasing Lopez's design aesthetic blended with Benefit's spirit of fun & laughter. On Monday, April 14th, Benefit will host a national press event at their Soho boutique in New York to unveil the new design which Lopez designed exclusively for Benefit Cosmetics to top beauty and fashion editors.
Beating out his fellow mentors Anya Ayoung-Chee and Mondo Guerra to help bring in the win for Lopez, Nick Verreos will also receive a 2014 Lexus CT 200h, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and a spot as guest editor for one year.
Project Runway: Under the Gunn hails the producers of the Emmy nominated Project Runway, The Weinstein Company and Bunim/Murray Productions. The 13-episode series was made in Los Angeles at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). Executive producers include Bob and Harvey Weinstein (Co-Chairmen of The Weinstein Company), Meryl Poster and Barbara Schneeweiss of The Weinstein Company, Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein, Sara Rea of Bunim/Murray Productions and Tim Gunn. Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman of Lifetime also executive produce.
