TVGN GETS "SITUATED" AS NETWORK ORDERS AND GOES INTO PRODUCTION WITH NEW DOCU-COMEDY SERIES "THE SORRENTINOS"
Mike Sorrentino Gets Real with New Family Reality Series
LOS ANGELES - March 31, 2014 - TVGN has ordered THE SORRENTINOS, a new reality series following Mike Sorrentino, a reality TV star whose rise to global fame as "The Situation" was meteoric, as was his inevitable come down and road to recovery. Cameras will document and show what life is like now and introduce a whole new set of quirky but loveable characters - Mike's family, the Sorrentinos. Production on the eight 30-minute episode order of the original docu-comedy series begins in New Jersey this week.
THE SORRENTINOS - Mike (youngest brother), Linda (mother), Marc (middle brother), Melissa (sister) and Frank (older brother) - will take viewers into the world of life after reality. What happens after overnight superstardom based on bad behavior? For Michael, the stakes are high as he has one shot to extend his fame and turn it into a lucrative and real career based on substance - all while staying sober and overcoming the demons of his past. With the support of his family, who walk the line between abounding love and sibling rivalry, viewers will have access into this family's everyday life - the good, the bad, the funny and the crazy.
"We're excited to take viewers, who met Mike in a very different time and place of his life, and bring them along for this ride with THE SORRENTINOS," said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment for TVGN. "Family is everything and it's something people universally come back to no matter who you are and what you do. Fame just makes the stakes higher and more public."
"The reality of the situation is... for the first time, fans and the general public, will be able to see and, well, meet Michael Sorrentino," remarked Mike. "This next chapter of my life is about sobriety and family, and I'm stoked to take people on this journey with us."
THE SORRENTINOS is executive produced for TVGN by Julie and Seth Jarrett of Jarrett Creative ("Boston's Finest," "Celebrity Ghost Stories," "Alaskan Women Looking for Love").
