DAMAGED GOODS (ABC/Warner Bros.; W: Lauren Iungerich; D: Declan Lowney) - Anna Camp ("The Mindy Project") has scored a lead role on the comedy pilot, about three damaged women and two damaged men who explore the minutiae of love and relationships. She's set as Nicole, "a smart and successful lawyer who is totally bewildered and betrayed when her boyfriend Tim (Justin Hartley) tells her he can't be happy for her or continue to date if she takes the promotion she was offered at the law firm where they both work - the promotion he expected to get." Ben Lawson, Kellee Stewart and Steve Talley also star. (Deadline.com)
EMPIRE (FOX/20th; W: Danny Strong & Lee Daniels; D: Lee Daniels) - Kaitlin Doubleday ("Hung") is the latest addition to the pilot, a unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire run by music superstar Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard). She'll play Rhonda, "the wife of Lucious' oldest son Andre (Trai Byers), a sexy, manipulative woman who shares Andre's Ivy League background and intends to help him scrap his way to the head of Empire." Bryshere Y. Gray, Gabourey Sidibe, Grace Gealey, Jussie Smollett, Malik Yoba and Taraji P. Henson also star. (Deadline.com)
HISTORY OF MUSIC (HBO; W: George Mastras & Terence Winter; D: Martin Scorsese) - Olivia Wilde ("House") is set to star opposite Bobby Cannavale in the potential drama, about Richie Finestra (Cannavale), a cocaine-fueled record exec in New York City circa 1977, when punk, disco and a new form of music called hip-hop collided. She'll play his wife Devon Finestra, "a former actress/model who lived a Bohemian life in 1960s New York." Said effort, which is awaiting a formal pilot order, has been in the works since July of 2010. (Deadline.com)
IZOMBIE (The CW/Warner Bros.; W: Diane Ruggiero & Rob Thomas; D: TBA) - Nora Dunn ("Entourage") is the latest to score a role on the drama pilot, about Olivia "Liv" Moore, a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories. She's on board as her Eva Moore, her hospital administrator mom who was a Tiger Mom long before anyone had heard of the term. Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney, Robert Buckley and David Anders also star. (Deadline.com)
MESSENGERS, THE (The CW/CTS; W: Eoghan O'Donnell; D: Stephen Williams) - Shantel VanSanten ("One Tree Hill") has been cast in the drama pilot, about a group of unconnected strangers who seemingly die from an energy pulse, only to awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse. She'll play NASA scientist Vera Markov, an intense, brilliant spitfire who works "at a remote New Mexico observatory who investigates a strange impact site." Said role is in second position to FOX's "Gang Related," which premieres on May 20. Diogo Morgado, Joel Courtney, Jon Fletcher and Sofia Black-D'Elia also star. (THR.com)
SCORPION (CBS/CTS; W: Nick Santora; D: Justin Lin) - Elyes Gabel ("Body of Proof") has booked the lead role on the drama pilot, about an eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses who form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age. He'll play said fellow, Walter O'Neil, the founder of Intelli-Gents. Robert Patrick also stars. (Deadline.com)
SEX BOX (WE tv, New!) - The cable channel is looking to import the British reality format, in which "real couples whose relationships are on the rocks enter a soundproof box to have sex and, upon exit, immediately address their issues with a panel of experts." Relativity TV is behind the hour-long project, the auspices of which weren't given. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has shelved its multi-camera comedy pilot "The Money Pit," based on the 1986 feature of the same name, over difficulties casting the leads (Deadline.com); Oliver Hudson and Will Chase will be upped to series regulars on "Nashville" should it return for season three (Deadline.com); Regina Hall will recur on FX's "Married" as "the ex-wife of very needy dude AJ (Brett Gelman), who is taking the divorce very hard" (Deadline.com); "Red Zone" creator Nikki Toscano has inked a two-year overall pact with co-producer Universal Television (Deadline.com); and Claire Holt is departing "The Originals" as a series regular following tonight's episode (TheWrap.com).
