VICENTE ARENAS IS NAMED A CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT
Vicente Arenas has been named a CBS News Correspondent, it was announced today by CBS News Chairman and 60 MINUTES Executive Producer Jeff Fager and CBS News President David Rhodes. Arenas will be based in Miami and his appointment is effective on March 17, 2014.
Arenas joins CBS News from KHOU-TV, the CBS affiliate in Houston, Texas, where he served as the weekend news anchor and weekday reporter since 2003.
Before that, Arenas was the weekday morning anchor and consumer reporter for WOAI-TV in San Antonio. Prior to that, he was a reporter with KTRK-TV in Houston for nearly five years, primarily covering the crime beat.
Arenas has served as the president of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals.
Arenas was born and raised in Kenedy, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Journalism.
