GOTHAM (FOX/Warner Bros.; W: Bruno Heller; D: Danny Cannon) - Danny Cannon ("The Tomorrow People") has been tapped to direct and executive produce the potential drama, which "mines DC Comics' popular Batman character universe and explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous." He'll work from a script by Bruno Heller. (Deadline.com)
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY (A.K.A. UNTITLED JEFF LOWELL PROJECT) (ABC/ABC Studios; W: Jeff Lowell; D: TBA) - Jeff Lowell's 2010 NBC script - "a romantic comedy that exposes the unfiltered internal monologues of a young couple embarking on a new relationship" - has found a new home at ABC where it has received a pilot order. ABC Studios and Brillstein Entertainment Partners remain as co-producers on the single-camera comedy, which Lowell will executive produce alongside Rachel Kaplan, Robin Schwartz and Peter Traugott. ODYSSEY (NBC/Universal; W: Adam Armus, Kay Foster & Peter Horton; D: Peter Horton) - Anna Friel ("Pushing Daisies") and Jake Robinson ("The Carrie Diaries") are the latest to board the drama pilot, about "three families who are torn apart when a stranded female soldier, a disillusioned corporate attorney and a disrespected political activist are pulled into the same shocking international military conspiracy." She'll play Sgt. Odelle Ballard, "a fierce leader who left her husband and child at home and is the only woman in the squad"; while he's set as Harrison Wolcott, "a member of a group of protesters against the G8 summit in New York. He's vehemently anti-capitalist and the son of a wealthy member of the financial elite." Nate Mooney also stars. (THR.com)
SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL (FX, New!) - Denis Leary ("Rescue Me") is returning to the cable channel with a new comedy pilot, about Johnny Rock, "a middle-aged rock 'n roller who desperately wanted to be rich and famous but so far, he's 0 for 2." He'll star in and write the project via his Fox Television Studios-based Apostle banner. Said effort is tentatively slated to film in the spring in New York City with Jim Serpico executive producing alongside Leary. FX Productions is also producing. (Deadline.com)

Mamie Gummer won't continue on the FOX bound drama "Backstrom" after co-starring in the original CBS pilot (Deadline.com); Aisha Tyler is bound for "Modern Family" as "a former law school classmate of Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) who runs the legal aid society where he gets a job" (EW.com); and Drea de Matteo's Wendy has likewise been upped to series regular for the swan song of "Sons of Anarchy" (TVLine.com).
