BBC America's "Copper," E!'s "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" Get the Axe

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "Copper" and "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" have both been canceled by their respective networks, BBC America and E!.
"'Copper' has been a fascinating and exciting experience for everyone involved," BBC America general manager Perry Simon said in a statement to THR.com. "The opportunity to work with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Will Rokos, Thomas Kelly and the extraordinary cast and crew on this journey is one that we are extremely proud of.
Their vision to retell the immigrant experience through the melting pot of New York City was an original and fresh idea that melded well with the essence of BBC America's programming. After 23 episodes, with Lincoln dead and the nation starting to heal, it seems a fitting moment to conclude this American story."
Look for the show's de facto finale, "The Place I Called My Home," to air this Sunday, September 22 at 10:00/9:00c.
As for "Ryan Lochte," the much-ballyhooed reality series won't be back for a sophomore run, TVLine.com reports. The series opened to a modest 807,000 viewers on April 21 before signing off May 27 to 325,000 viewers.
Erika Wright, Kevin Dill and Mechelle Collins were the executive producers for Intuitive Entertainment and Wright Entertainment and Sports.
