Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
DOROTHY MUST DIE (The CW, New!) - "Heroes" alums Tim Kring, Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster are on track to re-team for a new drama billed as "a revisionist take on the classic tale set in present day" where the ever-youthful Dorothy has stayed in Oz, "presiding over a now fascist fairyland with her perfectly manicured iron fist, until another young woman from Kansas is swept up in a tornado and magically dropped into this war-torn Oz." Armus and Foster are penning the hour, which is based on Danielle Paige's upcoming young adult novel of the same name. Full Fathom Five's James Frey and Todd Cohen are also on board to executive produce alongside the aforementioned trio via a yet-to-be-determined studio. (Deadline.com)
HR (Lifetime; W: Glenn Porter; D: Darren Star) - Greg Germann has been cast in the drama pilot, about Ellen Bell (Alicia Silverstone), an uptight Director of Human Resources for a global company who - after a head injury alters her outlook on life - throws standard corporate practices out the window and inspires the business to strive for new ambitions and profits. He'll play her boss, the company's CEO. Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment also serves as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
SALVATION (CBS, New!) - Feature writer Matt Wheeler has booked a new drama at the network "set in the months leading up to a global, catastrophic event and follows a group of characters' attempts to deal with the impending destruction of the planet and ensure the survival of humanity." Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Heather Kadin are on board to executive produce the hour via their duo's newly CBS Television Studios-based K/O Paper Products, as is the fellow studio-based Peter M. Lenkov. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JARRETT CONAWAY/ZACH CRALEY PROJECT (The CW, New!) - Zach Craley and Jarrett Conaway have sold a potential drama to the netlet about "illegal abilities-enhancing pills in American high schools." Tim Kring ("Heroes") also serves as an executive producer on the hour. No studio was indicated. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NICK CARTER PROJECT (VH1, New!) - Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys is set to topline a pilot presentation for the cable channel that "chronicles Carter's life as he tries to make amends with his past and prepare for his upcoming nuptials with fiancée, Lauren Kitt." Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment's Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey are executive producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED VIJAL PATEL PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Vijal Patel ("The Family Tools") has sold a potential single-camera comedy to the network about "tiger parents who realize raising smart confident kids is a horrible idea when they turn into smart confident teenagers who make your life hell." ABC Studios is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Coquette Productions' Courteney Cox and David Arquette then also serve as executive producers with the company's Thea Mann co-executive producing. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix's new drama "Complications" is reportedly nearing a pilot order at USA (Deadline.com); Candice Bergen and Charles Grodin have been tapped to play the title character's parents on NBC's "The Michael J. Fox Show" (Deadline.com); Christina Chang will recur on "Nashville" as Deacon's (Charles Esten) lawyer "and maybe something more" (Deadline.com); Ravi Patel has booked an arc on ABC's "Super Fun Night" as "a somewhat smarmy but still endearing underachieving lawyer who works at the firm where Kimmie (Rebel Wilson) works" (Deadline.com); Cynthia Nixon is bound for the new season of "Hannibal" as "an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight who is investigating the events of the first season" (TVLine.com); Zeljko Ivanek and Rebecca Hazlewood will both drop by "White Collar" in an episode about the theft of a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil and its egg (TVLine.com); and Carrie Preston will guest on "The Following" as Judy, "Joe's most loyal groupie" (EOnline.com).
