EXCLUSIVE NANCY KERRIGAN INTERVIEW FEATURED IN KERRIGAN-HARDING DOCUMENTARY TO AIR DURING NBCUNIVERSAL'S SOCHI WINTER OLYMPICS COVERAGE
Mary Carillo to Interview the Former Skaters, Tell the Dramatic Story That Captivated America & Chronicle Past Two Decades of Their Lives
LOS ANGELES - July 27 - NBC Sports Group today announced a new documentary on former Olympic figure skaters Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding featuring an exclusive interview of Kerrigan that will air during its Sochi Winter Olympics coverage. The announcement was made during NBC Sports Group's presentation at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mary Carillo will interview both former skaters and tell the story that had America riveted leading up to and during the tabloid-fueled 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. In addition, she will speak to both about who and how they are now, what they learned, and what they left behind in the two decades since Kerrigan won a silver medal and Harding finished eighth.
Kerrigan, a two-time Olympic medalist, is now married with three children and was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2004. Harding is married with one child and has taken part in a number of sports and entertainment reality shows over the past 20 years.
"This will be a fascinating look back on the 20th anniversary of one of the most dramatic episodes in Winter Olympic history and how it has affected the lives of these two women; Mary Carillo is the perfect reporter to tell their stories," said Jim Bell, Executive Producer of NBC Olympics.
NBC will begin its primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics on Thursday, February 6, 2014 - featuring figure skating, snowboarding, and freestyle skiing - one night before the broadcast network provides its traditional primetime coverage of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 7, 2014.
