BRING ON THE SWEET SUMMER NECTAR!

Metal Detecting Enthusiasts KG and Ringy Return to Uncover Lost Pieces of American History in All-New Episodes of National Geographic Channel's Series Diggers

New Locations Include the Stomping Grounds of Billy the Kid and Site of an Infamous Bonnie and Clyde Shootout

Four Weeks of Summer Premieres Begin Wednesday, August 7, at 8 and 8:30 PM ET/PT New Season Coming This Fall

(WASHINGTON, D.C. - JULY 16, 2013) As summer heats up, some vacationers flock to the beach with the hopes of getting more than just a tan. They arrive with metal detectors in hand, searching the shoreline for treasure, but often coming up with just pennies. But for explorers and history buffs George "KG" Wyant and Tim "Ringy" Saylor, the real treasure is a piece of "civ" from a battlefield, a bullet from a historic showdown or even a piece of an atomic bomb. The "juice" they're after is mostly priceless, but these pieces of American history are worth the thrill of the hunt.

Premiering Wednesday, August 7, at 8 and 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, the Diggers team is back to explore America's backyard with a summer stack of four weeks of all-new episodes. The stakes are higher as the guys take on new levels of historical terrain, scouring places they've only dreamed of exploring. Where there is an empty yard, field or beach approved for metal detecting, KG and Ringy see a treasure trove and will go the distance to uncover "sweet nectar" or "juice," working in close collaboration with a local archaeologist or historian at every site. For more information, visit www.natgeotv.com/diggers and follow us on Twitter at @NGC_PR.

This summer, join the adventurers as they travel to the New Mexico stomping grounds of Billy the Kid - one of the most famous outlaws in American history - as the duo makes a find that could possibly be traced back to a five-day battle between Billy the Kid and his rival gang. KG and Ringy also visit the site of an infamous shootout between Bonnie and Clyde and local law enforcement. Hundreds of bullets were fired here, but not a single one has ever been found - will the guys uncover a piece of priceless outlaw "juice", or perhaps even the bullet that killed Buck Barrow? And at Bleeding Kansas, the battleground where the North and South first fought over the issue of slavery, the guys come up with a rush of "roundness in the hole" - could it be the "civ" Holy Grail they've been hoping for?

Episodes include:

Diggers: Billy the Kid Wednesday, August 7, at 8 p.m. ET/PT KG and Ringy are hot on the trail of one of the most famous American outlaws: Billy the Kid. No one knows exactly where the Wild West fugitive was born, but the guys have exclusive access to some of his most important New Mexico stomping grounds and are hoping to score some sweet historical "nectar." They head to a ranch where Billy sought work after fleeing Arizona, where he was wanted for murder; the home of his rival, the wealthy Jimmy Dolan; and the house where Billy the Kid made a deal with the governor to turn himself in. The guys score plenty of "juice," including old coins and other western artifacts - but then, at the site of a five-day battle between Billy the Kid and a rival gang, KG gets a major hit of "roundness" - could it be Ringy's Holy Grail: Billy the Kid's pistol?

Diggers: Nuclear Nectar Wednesday, August 7, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT The guys are in Mars Bluff, S.C., where they have exclusive access to the site of the 1958 accidental Air Force bombing of a small family homestead. Fortunately, the atomic bomb was unarmed, but it still contained 6,000 pounds of explosives - leaving a crater and destroying everything in its wake. KG and Ringy have uncovered artifacts from the Civil and Revolutionary wars, but they've never found a real weapon of mass destruction, and they're eager to uncover some "juice" from this rare moment in American history.

Diggers: Bonnie & Clyde Wednesday, August 14, at 8 p.m. ET/PT After a crime spree that left more than a dozen people dead and rocked the nation, notorious bank-robbing couple Bonnie and Clyde were almost killed in a vicious Iowa shootout. Now, KG and Ringy are on the scene, hoping to uncover "juice" from the fight that forever changed the couple's crime career. No one has ever found bullets from the infamous showdown - with the help of a historian to guide them through the day's events, can the guys find the "sweet nectar" they're hoping for? The team also visits the birthplace of John Wayne - KG grew up watching his movies and can't wait to see if there's any "nectar" from the Duke's childhood just waiting to be liberated from the soil.

Diggers: Bleeding Kansas Wednesday, August 14, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT KG and Ringy are on the front lines of Bleeding Kansas, where the deadliest conflict in our nation's history had its roots, and they're determined to find the oldest "civ" possible: the bullet from the first shot fired in the civil war before the Civil War. The first stop is a landmark on the Underground Railroad - a river crossing used by the militia and escaping slaves - perhaps these escaping slaves or the people who helped them dropped something in their rush to get to freedom, or maybe the militia dropped some military buttons or even some weaponry? Next, they visit a location on the Santa Fe Trail where travelers stopped to resupply - since so many people passed through, KG and Ringy hope to strike "sweet nectar" in no time. Finally, they hit up Black Jack Battlefield. This site is where the North and South first battled over the issue of slavery, and it's the perfect spot to uncover the "roundness" they are hoping for.

Diggers is produced for National Geographic Channel by Half Yard Productions.
