BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS (A&E, New!) - Writer Chad Feehan ("Southland") and director Joe Carnahan ("Those Who Kill") are developing a new serialized drama at the cable channel which centers on the world of amateur bull riding in Texas. CBS Television Studios-based Timberman-Beverly Productions is behind the hour with the company's Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly executive producing alongside Carnahan and Feehan serving as a co-executive producer. CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Jesse Lee Soffer ("The Mob Doctor") is in talks to join the cast of the "Chicago Fire" spin-off while Melissa Sagemiller's Julia Willhite won't continue onto the series. Details on Soffer's character are still being sketched out while Sagemiller appeared in the backdoor pilot episode "Let Her Go." J.B. Smoove, Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Kelly Blatz, LaRoyce Hawkins, Mykelti Williamson, Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde also star. (TVLine.com)


OPEN (HBO/Fox 21; W: Lauren Gussis & Ryan Murphy; D: TBA) - Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games) is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, described as "a modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships." He'll play the handsome but arrogant Evan Foster, "a bit of a blowhard who loves espousing his theories on human sexuality." Dante Di Loreto of Ryan Murphy Productions also serves as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)


QUARRY (Cinemax; W: Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller; D: John Hillcoat) - Stellan Skarsgard (Thor: The Dark World) has boarded the drama pilot, "set in the 1970s and centers on a Marine sniper (Logan Marshall-Green) who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973, finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public." He'll play The Broker, "a shadowy figure who approaches Quarry, recruiting him into his criminal ranks." Noah Taylor and Skipp Sudduth also star. (Deadline.com)


SEAN SAVES THE WORLD (NBC) - Megan Hilty ("Smash") has joined the cast of the Sean Hayes-led comedy, about a divorced gay dad (Hayes) juggling the demands of his job and family. She'll succeed Lindsay Sloane as his co-worker/friend Liz, a former therapist who quit because she had too many opinions and couldn't listen to people talk about their problems without telling them what to do. Echo Kellum, Linda Lavin, Samantha Isler and Thomas Lennon also star. (TVLine.com)
