ADAM BONNETT PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING, DISNEY CHANNELS WORLDWIDE
Following another year of record-setting ratings and expanded programming development across multiple platforms, Disney Channel has promoted Adam Bonnett to the newly created position of executive vice president, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, to whom Bonnett reports. Disney Channel made history in 2012 as the #1 channel in Total Day among Kids 2-11 (breaking the competition's 17-year record).
Marsh said: "Adam is an extraordinarily talented executive who brilliantly blends great storytelling with great comedy and, in doing so, has helped create the #1 kids network on television. His instinct for finding and developing the nucleus of what makes great kid and family programming is unrivaled."
Bonnett will continue to oversee all live action Development and Current original series and movies for Disney Channel and Disney XD, as well as Casting and Talent Relations for those channels.
Bonnett leads the programming development team that has delivered enormously successful original series, including Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie," "Jessie," "Shake It Up" "Austin & Ally" and "A.N.T. Farm," which comprised the Top 5 live-action TV series among Kids 6-11 in 2012. He also developed Disney Channel's newest series, "Dog With A Blog," as well as upcoming series "Liv and Maddie" and the Disney Channel Original Movies "Teen Beach Movie" and "Cloud 9."
Bonnett joined Disney Channel in 1997 and, over the past 16 years, developed the Emmy Award-winning "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Hannah Montana," the latter of which was built into a hugely successful television franchise for The Walt Disney Company. He also developed the hit series "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," "The Suite Life on Deck," "Sonny With A Chance," "That's So Raven," "Lizzie McGuire," "Even Stevens" and the animated hits "The Proud Family" and "Disney's Kim Possible."
For Disney XD, Bonnett developed the network's top live-action series, "Lab Rats," "Kickin' It," "Pair of Kings," "Zeke and Luther" and "Crash and Bernstein," all contributing to making 2012 Disney XD's biggest year in the channel's history in Total Viewers and its targeted kid and boy demographics, 2-11, 6-14, 6-11 and 9-14.
Born and raised in Washington DC, Bonnett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema Studies from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. He resides in Los Angeles, California.
