New York, NY - This September, FOX Sports embarks on its landmark 20th season of NFL coverage and the countdown to the biggest, boldest and most likely, the coldest Super Bowl in history begins.
The 2013 NFL on FOX schedule includes 59 games featuring at least one of last season's playoff teams, including 10 games featuring the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. The NFC East Champion Washington Redskins, the NFC North Champion Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants each play nine games on FOX. The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears also appear 10 times each on FOX.
At present, FOX Sports is scheduled to broadcast 105 regular-season games, including nine editions of AMERICA'S GAME OF THE WEEK (NFL on FOX's national doubleheader window and the highest-rated, most-watched on any network) and the traditional Thanksgiving Day game this year featuring a divisional showdown in the Motor City when the Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers, their Black and Blue Division foe.
The NFL on FOX regular season gets underway Sunday, Sept. 8 with doubleheader coverage of six games including a divisional playoff rematch as Aaron Rodgers and the Packers face-off against Colin Kaepernick and the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park. Week 1 action also features the return of Sean Payton to the New Orleans sidelines as the Saints and Drew Brees host Matt Ryan and the NFC runner-up Atlanta Falcons.
As the 2013 season unfolds, viewers can look forward to many exciting matchups including two featuring Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. The first comes on Sunday, Sept. 29 when Denver hosts Chip Kelly's Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4, while the second comes Sunday, Oct. 27 as the Broncos welcome another NFC East opponent to Mile High in Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. Week 6 features two of the most prolific quarterbacks in the NFL when Brees and the New Orleans Saints travel to Foxborough to take on Tom Brady and the defending AFC East Champion New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 4:25 PM ET, while earlier that day, the Green Bay Packers visit the Super Bowl Champion Ravens in Baltimore. Headlining Week 12 doubleheader action is a classic NFC East clash when Eli Manning and the New York Giants host Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 24. Three weeks later, as the regular season reaches its final stretch, the Packers and Cowboys clash in Big D on Sunday, Dec. 15, then Week 17 could see many teams fighting for playoff positions with key divisional matchups pitting the Packers against the Bears and the Redskins traveling to MetLife Stadium to take on the Giants on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Each week, live coverage begins with FOX NFL SUNDAY (12:00-1:00 PM ET/9:00-10:00 AM PT), America's most-watched pregame show for 19 straight seasons. Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee return as co-hosts alongside analysts Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan. They are once again joined by NFL insider Jay Glazer and NFL rules analyst Mike Pereira. Since its premiere in September 1994, FOX NFL SUNDAY has won 20 Emmy Awards for its production and personalities, including four for Outstanding Studio Show.
Once playoff teams are determined, the NFL on FOX presents exclusive live postseason coverage, including an NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday, Jan. 5, the NFC Divisional Playoffs, Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12, and the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 19. FOX Sports then presents SUPER BOWL XLVIII, the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl ever played, on Sunday, Feb. 2 from MetLife Stadium, hosted by New York/New Jersey.
The 2013 NFL on FOX Super Bowl season kicks off with three exciting preseason matchups, beginning on Friday, Aug. 16 (8:00 PM ET), the eve of the historic FOX Sports 1 launch, as the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Patriots. The game on Sunday, Aug. 18 (8:00 PM ET), features super sophomore Andrew Luck and the resurgent Indianapolis Colts visiting MetLife Stadium, site of Super Bowl XLVIII, to face the Giants. The NFL on FOX preseason slate wraps up with the Saints visiting the defending AFC South Champion Houston Texans on Sunday, Aug. 25 (4:00 PM ET).
