G. GARVIN RETURNS IN SEARCH OF THE BEST SOUTHERN-INSPIRED DISHES IN NEW SEASON OF "ROAD TRIP WITH G. GARVIN"

Season Premiere Tuesday, May 7th at 9pm ET/6pm PT on Cooking Channel

NEW YORK - April 2, 2013 - Chef Gerry Garvin, aka 'G.', returns to Cooking Channel for the second season of Road Trip with G. Garvin, premiering Tuesday, May 7th at 9pm ET/6pm PT. An acclaimed cookbook author and larger-than-life personality, G. Garvin takes viewers on a culinary expedition through 13 episodes exploring the most delicious Southern-inspired cuisine the country has to offer. From Los Angeles to Nashville, Louisville to San Francisco and in his hometown of Atlanta, G. discovers the hidden gems behind some of the cities' best Southern dishes.

G. Garvin has mastered offering a one-size-fits-all approach to cooking sophisticated and simple meals, proving that even the most basic cooking palate can create the most flavorful of dishes. The Atlanta native began building his culinary repertoire during childhood. G. most recently hosted Georgia Road Trip with G. Garvin and the first season of Road Trip with G. Garvin on Cooking Channel. His first cookbook, the NAACP nominated "Turn Up the Heat with G. Garvin" debuted in October 2006. Its widespread success quickly prompted a second printing and won an American Literacy Award. Garvin's highly anticipated sophomore effort, "Make it Super Simple with G. Garvin," was released in 2008 and has since written two other books. Chef Garvin was nominated for a 2013 James Beard Award for Outstanding Food Personality/Host for his work on Cooking Channel. As a restaurateur, Garvin has just opened Low Country Restaurant at the Atlanta Airport. Through Garvin's efforts he hopes to aid in breaking down the diversity barriers within not only the cooking industry, but in society as a whole. His down to earth approach to cooking, and discovering off-the-beaten path foods, has made him one of the most respected chefs on the culinary scene today.

Episodes include:

Premiering Tuesday, May 7th at 9pm ET/6pm PT - SEASON PREMIERE! "Atlanta" G. Garvin heads to his hometown, Atlanta, the place where his southern-inspired roots were born. He starts with shrimp and grits at Local Three, where a unique kitchen is giving brunch a makeover. G. then satisfies his sweet tooth with red velvet cake from A Piece of Cake, and tops off the day at JCT Kitchen with a true southern treat, fried chicken, along with some very inventive cocktails.

Premiering Tuesday, May 14th at 9pm ET/6pm PT "Best of Georgia" G. Garvin is hitting the best places in the state of Georgia. First on the list is a stop at Yeah! Burger for a bison burger so good, the place surely lives up to its name. Then it's on to Decatur, to the Brick Store Pub, where deep-fried fish and chips and an endless selection of craft beers are on the menu. Plus, G. takes a walk down memory lane at the Fickle Pickle in Roswell, where a fried green tomato sandwich and Cajun-fried pickles brings back many childhood memories.

Premiering Tuesday, May 21st at 9pm ET/6pm PT "San Francisco" G. Garvin heads to the west coast to check out San Francisco. First up is Brenda's French Soul Food, bringing the flavors of the Gulf to the Pacific with their oyster flight and fried catfish po'boy. Next, G. visits local legend Richard Alioto of Alioto's Restaurant and gets a taste of their famous Crab Cioppino before working the counter and cracking crabs for customers. Finally, G. discovers Hops and Hominy, a new southern-inspired restaurant that's serving up a duck dish that is truly unforgettable.

Premiering Tuesday, May 28th at 9pm ET/6pm PT "Nashville" G. Garvin is in Music City, USA - Nashville - and his first stop is Lockeland Table, where he gets a taste of an amazing pork loin with greens and that southern classic, mac and cheese. Then it's off to sample some hot chicken and G. gets a private lesson on how to make this Nashville staple from the owner of 400 Degrees Hot Chicken. He caps off the trip with a visit to John A's Restaurant for some music and good food, including fried chicken livers and a juicy prime rib sandwich.

Premiering Tuesday, June 4th at 9pm ET/6pm PT "Oakland" In Oakland, G. Garvin visits the Chop Bar where he samples a hearty and delicious meatloaf dish. On his trip, G. stops by the home kitchen of Jaynelle from the popular shop Pietisserie, and whips up a tangy apple pie. Then G. hits the streets on a walking tour and samples everything from chicken and waffles to ceviche, and ends the day with a wine sampling, all while getting a taste of the Oakland food scene.
