OSCAR.COM TO OFFER FANS SELECT REAL TIME HIGHLIGHTS DURING LIVE OSCAR(R) TELECAST
Whether it's a jaw dropping musical performance, a memorable acceptance speech or that joke that hits, Oscar.com will bring viewers select "Real Time Oscar Highlights" almost instantly after airing live on ABC. "Real Time Oscar(R) Highlights" can be viewed at www.oscar.com/real-time. The best pre-show fashion moments will become available online and on the official Oscars app throughout the show.
Oscar.com and the official Oscars app go to great lengths to engage fans, giving them unparalleled access to all things Oscar Sunday. As part of the "Backstage Pass," there are almost 20 exclusive live cameras strategically placed on the Red Carpet and throughout the backstage area of the Dolby Theatre. Fans can either sit back and enjoy the action in "Watch" mode or control the cameras they want to see in "Direct" mode. Hosts and correspondents include: "The View's" Sherri Shepherd, television personality Cameron Mathison, "Modern Family's" Rico Rodriquez, Entertainment Weekly's Jess Cagle, and PEOPLE's Peter Castro. For the first time this year, Backstage Pass will include the Red Carpet Digital Lounge, where Radio Disney's Jake Whetter, POPSUGAR's Alison McNamara and Mashable's Brian Hernandez will report on the most buzzed about trends on social media using multi-media monitors run from Samsung Galaxy tablets and smartphones.
Another key feature of the digital experience is the official "My Picks" interactive ballot, which fans can use to go head to head with friends on their Oscar prediction skills. The ballots can be printed or used online. Oscar.com and the iPad app will refresh and calculate results as categories are presented. The game is shareable via Facebook.
Oscars for outstanding film achievements of 2012 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 24 at the Dolby Theatre(TM) at Hollywood & Highland Center(R), and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
