LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC will literally add some competition to Saturday nights starting in April, bookings from the network have confirmed.
Kicking off said efforts will be "Bet on Your Baby," a game show in which parents try to predict their child's next move in an effort to win money for their child's future education. Melissa Peterman hosts the eight-episode series, due on Saturday, April 6 at 8:00/7:00c. Electus and 5x5 Media are co-producing.
Then on Saturday, June 15, look for fellow newcomer "Troupe Stars" to assume the 8:00/7:00c slot. 5 Streams Global Entertainment is behind the eight-episode singing competition, where current and former soldiers will show off their performance skills. A host has yet to be announced.
Both series will mark ABC's first Saturday night launches since the short-lived anthology "Masters of Science Fiction" in August of 2007.
