NEW YORK - February 12, 2013 - This April, Monday nights on Style will get a little more fashionable as quirky fashionistas Betsey Johnson and her daughter Lulu of new docu-series "Betsey + Lulu" pair up with the resale gurus of "Resale Royalty" (working title) for a high-fashion evening of eccentric styles and comedic mayhem. Beginning Monday, April 29 at 8pm ET/PT, "Betsey + Lulu" explores the unique and fascinating world of fashion icon Betsey Johnson and her daughter Lulu. Then at 9pm ET/PT, from executive producer Rachel Zoe, "Resale Royalty" gives a glimpse into a vintage haven, exposing one of the fashion industry's best kept secrets - an unassuming resale store with designer and vintage clothes and accessories nestled in a St. Louis strip mall.
For years, Betsey Johnson has led the fashion community with her youthful and eclectic styles, and now gives viewers unprecedented access to her life with daughter Lulu on the docu-series "Betsey + Lulu," premiering at 8pm ET/PT. With Lulu as her muse, Betsey and her daughter have always worked together to expand Betsey's fashion empire, but the pressures of their business relationship have created a co-dependent, sometimes strained, mother-daughter relationship. After declaring bankruptcy, Betsey has been planning and conceptualizing on how to reinvent herself - and she can't do it without Lulu by her side. However, Lulu is having her own metamorphosis, looking to step out of her mother's shadow and create her own fashion line. Surrounded by a cast of characters, including Betsey's right hand and personal assistant, Brandon, and Lulu's outspoken best friend Angela, Betsey and Lulu's deeply entangled relationship will be tested as they evolve both professionally and personally.
Then at 9pm ET/PT, "Resale Royalty" chronicles the story of Sue McCarthy and her daughters, Diane and Laura, who own and operate one of the best resale stores in the country. This mother-daughter trio work to bring designer brands at affordable prices to their fashion savvy clientele. With more than 25 years of experience in the resale business, Sue has big plans for the future, but she needs her daughters - who have very different approaches to management - to help with the expanding empire. From spectacular closet buys of posh St. Louis socialites to exclusive shopping tours across the country, "Resale Royalty" is an exploration of high-end fashion events, insider trends, designer insight and the highs-and-lows associated with a demanding business overseen by an eccentric staff, who are also family.
