HGTV MOVES UP SECOND SEASON PREMIERE OF "FLEA MARKET FLIP," STARRING "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" CO-HOST LARA SPENCER
NEW YORK - Monday, Feb. 4 2013 - Viewer enthusiasm for the first season of Flea Market Flip has prompted HGTV to fast track the second season premiere to Friday, March 15 at 9 p.m. ET. More than 12.8 million adults have watched first season episodes of the series since its primetime premiere in September 2012. Featuring Good Morning America co-host and The New York Times' best-selling author Lara Spencer, Flea Market Flip pits two teams of avid flea market patrons against each other to compete for $5,000.
With only one-hour to shop and $500 in pocket, each Flea Market Flip team must scavenge for items to fix-up and flip, ultimately creating worthy treasures for repurchase. Spencer, who also is an interior designer, assigns a "flip list" of elements to be used throughout the competition, including "mix-and-match," repurposing and upholstery projects. The teams must then transform their drab finds into top-notch designs to sell at auction the following day - quickly turning from designers to salespeople who must attract customers, negotiate, and sell their refurbished items. In the end, only one team walks away with bragging rights and a $5,000 cash prize.
