NBC PROMOTES VETERAN PROGRAM EXECUTIVE DOUG VAUGHAN TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND LATE NIGHT PROGRAMMING

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 15, 2013 - Veteran program executive Doug Vaughan has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Special Programs and Late Night Programming, NBC. The announcement was made today by Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC, to whom Vaughan will continue to report.

Vaughan will add NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to his purview, in addition to previous oversight of "Saturday Night Live," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and "Last Call with Carson Daly." Based in New York, Vaughan is also responsible for NBC's specials and will now serve as a liaison between the News and Entertainment divisions.

"Doug is in a league of his own when it comes to putting together and nurturing NBC's entertaining and successful brand of specials," said Telegdy. "With his experience, versatility in programming and keen eye for worthy projects, he has been a vital asset in overseeing our Specials and Late Night programming and is well-deserving of these responsibilities and recognition."

Most recently, Vaughan oversaw the "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" telethon, which raised a record amount of funds and "The Golden Globe Awards," which aired Sunday, January 13 and claimed the highest "Golden Globes" ratings results in six years with nearly 20 million viewers.

Vaughan previously was Senior Vice President, Special Programs and Late Night, NBC, since November 2011. Earlier, he served Senior Vice President, Special Programs and Alternative, NBC, starting in 2007. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Special Programs, News and Entertainment, NBC Entertainment, since 2005.

Vaughan will continue to oversee all specials that have included NBC's recent "Michael Buble: Home for the Holidays" and "Blake Shelton's Not So Family Christmas," "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together," as well as "Betty White's 90th Birthday Special: A Tribute to America's Golden Girl," and "Adele Live in London". The other specials he is responsible for include, the annual Golden Globe Awards, "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade," "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," "Christmas in Rockefeller Center," "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly," "The Miss USA Pageant," "The Miss Universe Pageant," and the "NAACP Image Awards."

Earlier, Vaughan oversaw such specials as "Inside the Royal Wedding," "Inside the Royal Marriage," "All Together Now: A Celebration of Service," "Children of 9/11," "Harmony, A Film Inspired by the Prince of Wales," "Taylor Swift: Speak Now," "The Live Earth Concert," "Concert for Diana," "Concert for Diana: The Princes' Interview" (with Matt Lauer of NBC's "Today"), "Madonna: The Confessions Tour Live" and the Emmy Award-winning "Tony Bennett: An American Classic."

Vaughan also previously handled a variety of specials, including the Emmy-winning "Cher: The Farewell Tour," "Faith Hill: Firefly," "Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable," "Eagles Farewell 1 Tour," "Elton John: The Red Piano" and "Tim McGraw."

From 2000-02, as Supervising Producer at "Today," Vaughan was responsible for originating story and program ideas as well as supervising all entertainment and entertainment-related segments. He was the Senior Entertainment and Arts Producer at "Today" from 1993-2000.
