NBC PARTNERS WITH SPRINKLES CUPCAKES TO BRING A LITTLE SWEETNESS TO THE LAUNCH OF NEW COMEDY SERIES "1600 PENN"

Famed Cupcake Bakery Has Designated New Show's January 10 Premiere Date as "Gilchrist Inauguration Day" and Will Distribute Free Specialized "1600 Penn" Cupcakes in Their 11 Nationwide Bakeries

NBC Will Also Award Year's Supply of Cupcakes Through Social Media Contest Half; Hour Comedy Stars Bill Pullman as U.S. President Dale Gilchrist with Josh Gad and Jenna Elfman

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 9, 2013 - NBC is partnering with national cupcake bakery Sprinkles to celebrate the launch of the network's newest comedy "1600 Penn." In honor of the show's premiere on January 10, Sprinkles is declaring the day "Gilchrist Inauguration Day" and will mark the special occasion with branded "1600 Penn" cupcakes, which will be available free of charge in their 11 bakeries - located in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, among others. In addition, one lucky winner will receive a year's supply of cupcakes by entering a sweepstakes via Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #1600Cupcakes.

The half-hour contemporary family comedy starring Bill Pullman ("Independence Day") as U.S. President Dale Gilchrist, Josh Gad (Broadway's "The Book of Mormon") as first son Skip and Jenna Elfman ("Dharma and Greg") as First Lady, Emily, premieres Thursday, January 10 (9:30-10 p.m. ET).

In addition to free cupcakes in the 11 Sprinkles locations (one per customer), NBC will also provide a virtual "cupcake" that will be available to fans and viewers through the show's social media handles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr) beginning today through January 10. Viewers that post the virtual cupcake with hashtag #1600Cupcakes on Twitter or Instagram will be entered for a chance to win a year's supply of Sprinkles cupcakes. Visitors to the Sprinkles locations may also enter by posting an original photo of their cupcake to Twitter or Instagram using the same hashtag.

NBC will promote this sweepstakes across all social channels. Social handles are as follows - Twitter: @NBC1600Penn; Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/1600penn; Instagram: @NBCTV; YouTube: www.youtube.com/1600Penn; and Tumblr: http://1600penn.tumblr.com/.

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer/director Jason Winer ("Modern Family"), Jon Lovett (former White House speechwriter) and Gad, "1600 Penn" focuses on the Gilchrists - an average American family with one big exception; they live in the White House. President Dale Gilchrist (Pullman), is trying to perform the important duties of his job, while also doing right by his family. First son Skip (Gad), is one of the administration's biggest liabilities and despite his well-intentioned but misguided efforts, is the glue that holds the family together. Stepmom Emily (Elfman) is desperately trying to win over the affections of the kids - including Becca (Martha MacIsaac, "Superbad"), Xander (Benjamin Stockham, "Sons of Tucson") and Marigold (Amara Miller, "The Descendants"). Always in the President's corner is the savvy and loyal White House Press Secretary Marshall Malloy (Andre Holland, "Friends with Benefits"), whose biggest challenge is trying to stay one step ahead of the Gilchrists.

Whether it's entertaining foreign dignitaries, sneaking away for a night out, dealing with middle-school crushes or putting out fires, there is never a dull moment inside the Gilchrist White House. Executive producers are Winer, Gad, Lovett and Mike Royce ("Men of a Certain Age," "Everybody Loves Raymond"). "1600 Penn" is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
