MTV2 Begins Production on Mac Miller Six-Part Special to Debut in First Quarter 2013

Sets Date for Guy Code Season Three Premiere on Tuesday, January 15 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY (December 19, 2012) - MTV2 today announced the network has begun production on a reality series featuring emerging music superstar and entrepreneur Mac Miller along with his four best friends as they leave their hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and set up shop for the first time in Los Angeles, CA. More than a simple Entourage-tale, the series stars Mac and his "Most Dope" crew's real-life antics as the rapper/producer puts the finishing touches on his highly anticipated new album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off. The six-part special series will premiere in the first quarter of 2013 on MTV2.

"Yes, I have a show on MTV2," said Mac Miller. "It's very cool. Being an independent artist, I think it's important to find different ways to bring attention to what you are doing. With Watching Movies coming out, I just want to do whatever I can to make sure everybody hears that."

Miller added: "The show is going to be cool, it's a little look into my life... well, all the stuff you can show on TV. I have been living in my studio for months working on my album, so the show kind of forced me to get out of that room and go do something entertaining."

"Mac Miller embodies so many of the passion points of the MTV2 audience," said Paul Ricci, Senior Vice President of Programming and Development for MTV2. "In addition to being a creative powerhouse, he's a savvy entrepreneur, a funny and likeable guy, and he's living the dream with his hometown friends."

In addition, MTV2 today confirmed "MTV2's Guy Code" season three premiere date for Tuesday, January 15 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. The new season will welcome fresh faces along with stand-out series regulars dishing out the dos and don'ts on a variety of life's most embarrassing and important topics, including brand new sketch comedy segments. Joining the cast this season are Jermaine Fowler, Dan Soder, Kevin Barnett, Pete Davidson and Tiffany Luu. "Guy Code" closed out its second season as the highest rated and most watched original series in the history of the network.

The Mac Miller special series is the latest original programming initiative joining MTV2's line-up of successful hits including "Guy Code," "Nitro Circus Live," "Hip Hop Squares," and the recently announced return of "Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out" in 2013. The network continues to work with a diverse roster of talent, featuring a mix of big names and emerging talent, ranging from Nick Cannon, Donnell Rawlings and Lil DuVal to musicians Lil Wayne, Tech N9ne, Tyga and MGK, among others, who wish to co-create lifestyle series and docu-specials that engage viewers in new, creative ways.

MTV has long been a supporter of Mac Miller dating back to March 2011 when the network named him as one of MTV's annual "Artists to Watch" list. Throughout the past two years, Mac has appeared on many of MTV's music properties and shows and made his mark as a PUSH (Play Until Someone Hears) artist in June 2011, featured performer on "Live in Chicago: Mac Miller" live stream that remains the highest traffic single-artist live stream, O Music Awards, mtvU Woodie Awards and the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Tour. In addition, Mac shared his comic chops through appearances on MTV2's comedic game-show series "Hip Hop Squares" and "The Dub Magazine Project," and shared his life story in his own words on MTV's recent series "This Is How I Made It." Mac Miller's debut album released in 2011, Blue Slide Park, made music history as the first independent album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 top albums chart since the 1990s. To date, Mac has amassed over three million followers on Twitter and was crowned Complex Magazine's "Man of Next Year" in December 2012, building anticipation for a huge 2013 for the emerging megastar.

"MTV2's Guy Code" will boast a current roster of regulars including: Andrew Schulz (comedian, MTV's "New Year's Eve Bash," Music Choice's "Certified"), April Rose (model, Maxim "Hometown Hottie"), Charlamagne Tha God (radio personality, entertainer, producer), Chris Distefano (comedian), Damien Lemon ("Russell Simmons Presents the Ruckus"), Donnell Rawlings (comedian, "Chappelle's Show"), Jon Gabrus (comedian, MTV's "The Substitute," "Gabrus on Rugby"), Jordan Carlos (comedian, "I Just Want My Pants Back"), Lil Duval (comedian, "Hood State of the Union"), Lisa Ramos (model, "America's Next Top Model"), and Melanie Iglesias (model, Maxim "Hometown Hottie").

MTV2 targets young men with smart, funny and relevant content, including music, comedic and action-oriented original programming such as Guy Code, Nitro Circus Live, The DUB Magazine Project, Hip Hop Squares, the weekly hip hop show The Week in Jams, and the recently announced return of Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out in 2013.

Guy Code was developed by Ryan Ling who also serves as Executive Producer. Darin Byrne and Paul Ricci are Executive Producers for MTV2. Andrew Stuckey is Director. The series is an original production by Viacom media Networks.
