TOTAL BEARDING NETWORK - FEATURING CHRIS GETHARD - PREMIERES TODAY ON IFC.COM
Companion Web Series to IFC's Hit Original Whisker Wars, Premiering Nov. 23 @ 10PM
NEW YORK, NY - November 19, 2012 - To further satiate fans of the competitive bearding world, IFC premiered today the animated web series Total Bearding Network. Voiced by IFC's 2012 "Adopt-A-Comic" Chris Gethard (The Chris Gethard Show, The Other Guys, This American Life) and comedian Jim Santangeli (CollegeHumor Originals, FunnyorDie.com), Total Bearding Network shines a spotlight on the world of competitive bearding. Viewers will see that world through the eyes of veteran former champion Ken Guntruck (Santangeli) and his facially hair-challenged co-anchor, Pete Lewis (Gethard). Written and directed by Dan Meth (CollegeHumor Original), Total Bearding Network premieres today exclusively at IFC.com with additional webisodes posting weekly online through December.
"I've always dreamed of competing in the facial hair circuit but I'm only able to grow the awkward peach fuzz of a prepubescent boy," commented Gethard. "So I'm forced to experience the testosterone-charged, nail-biting competitions of this global sports phenomenon as a spectator."
The first Total Bearding Network webisode includes an in-depth look at spring training and the new online Fantasy Bearding craze, http://www.ifc.com/shows/whisker-wars/total-bearding-network. Future coverage from the competitive bearding sportscasters includes an exposé on a performance-enhancing drug scandal, an inspiring interview with the first woman to compete in professional bearding and a highlight on the birthplace of bearding: Brooklyn, NY.
Be sure to catch the real-life world of competitive facial hair growing in the second season premiere of Whisker Wars on Friday, November 23 at 10:00 pm ET/PT on IFC.
Future episodes can be seen at http://www.ifc.com/shows/whisker-wars/total-bearding-network.
