MTV BRINGS THE ORIGINAL "TEEN MOM" CAST BACK FOR TWO EMOTIONAL SPECIALS:

"Teen Mom Farewell Special" Premiering October 2, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT

A Half-Hour "Teen Mom: Ask the Moms" Special Airing October 9, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT

New York, NY (September 19, 2012) - Four young mothers captivated audiences when they shared their stories in the first season of "16 and Pregnant," and viewers have been along for the ride as they've navigated their teenage years and early twenties with toddlers in-tow. Today, MTV announced that they're bringing the original "Teen Mom" cast back for two more specials this October, including the hour-long, emotional "Teen Mom Farewell Special" and a half-hour "Teen Mom: Ask the Moms" special.

"Teen Mom Farewell Special" -- Premiering Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT

Maci, Catelynn, Farrah, and Amber say goodbye with an emotional, final look back on their journeys. From navigating teen pregnancy and the moments Bentley, Sophia, Leah and Carly were born, to the ups and downs of teen parenthood - this special will go inside the stories of these young mothers with never-before-seen footage including their original casting tapes, behind-the-scenes secrets, and dramatic updates direct from the moms on where they are now.

"Teen Mom: Ask the Moms" Special - Premiering Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT

"Teen Mom" fans have questions, and this half-hour special has answers. From whether Maci and Ryan have ever hooked up post breakup to whether or not any of the girls will be on TV again, Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn dish on moments throughout the series, their love lives, the realities of filming, and more.

The teen birth rate recently dropped 10 percent, marking the steepest decline in over 60 years. However, more than 700,000 teenage girls in the U.S. still become pregnant each year and one out of every ten children in the U.S. is born to a teenage mother. The vast majority of these pregnancies are unintended. In a recent poll by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 77 percent of teens age 12-19 that have seen "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" say the shows "help teens better understand the challenges of pregnancy and parenting."

Since its launch in 2009, "Teen Mom" has captivated millions of viewers with its honest depiction of the lives of teen moms. The final season, Season 4, averaged 2.4 million total viewers per episode, and ranked as the #1 cable program among P12-34 in its time slot. The "Teen Mom" franchise consistently ranks as one of the most-watched cable series among P12-34.*

"Teen Mom" is Executive Produced by Morgan J Freeman and Dia Sokol Savage. Lauren Dolgen is Executive Producer, MTV. Kenda Greenwood is Co-Executive Producer. Andrew Portnoy, Jessica Zalkind, Nick Predescu and Sara Cohen are Executives for MTV. Concept by Lauren Dolgen.

Executive Producer Morgan J. Freeman is the founding partner of 11th Street Productions. Aside from showrunning MTV's "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" franchise, Freeman made a name for himself as the Sundance award-winning writer/director of "Hurricane Streets," a film centered on the trials and tribulations of teenage life. Freeman's other film work include Kate Hudson and Casey Affleck's "Desert Blue," the thrillers "American Psycho 2" and "Homecoming," and "Just Like The Son" which stars Mark Webber and Rosie Perez.

Viewers can go to MTV.com for sneak peeks of the show including bonus/extended scenes and exclusive interviews with the moms. For more information and exclusive content, "like" the "Teen Mom" Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/teenmom.
