THE "PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS" TO BE BROADCAST WEDNESDAY, JAN. 11, 2012, ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Mark Burnett Returns as Executive Producer

New Categories Are Offered as First Phase of Voting Begins Today

The PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS, in which fans honor their favorites in movies, music and television, will be broadcast Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 (9:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Mark Burnett returns as executive producer of the season's first awards broadcast. "I love producing the People's Choice Awards and I am so glad to be back for the 2012 show," said Burnett. "I'm proud of the buzzworthy moments we created for this year's Emmy Awards and speak on behalf of our entire production team when I say how much we are looking forward to taking on the PCA's once again."

Fans will again have the opportunity to vote for which categories will be included on PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS. Starting today, 15 categories are eligible for voting on www.PeoplesChoice.com/pca/categories, and the top vote-getters will be added to the 2012 show. Additional categories are being offered in all three genres of the awards show, including Favorite Book Adaptation, Favorite Celebreality Star and Favorite Concert Tour, among others. Also, fans have the opportunity to write in their own submissions.

"Our categories evolve each year to reflect the constantly changing popular culture," said Fred Nelson, President of People's Choice. "In 1977, for example, Carol Burnett triumphed over Donny & Marie and The Captain & Tennille for Favorite TV Variety Show. You can't get more '70s than that. While in 2008, the third installment of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise beat out 'The Bourne Ultimatum' and 'Spider-Man 3' for Favorite Movie Threequel, a category we created specifically for that year. We're letting the fans help us choose new categories for 2012; after all, their passion for entertainment is the heart and soul of the People's Choice Awards."

The PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS will be broadcast live from its home at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Now in its 38th year, the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS is voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in music, movies and television. The "People's Choice" website at www.peopleschoice.com serves as a year-round destination for entertainment enthusiasts to voice their opinions on pop culture, and determine the nominees and winners for the annual awards show. Fred Nelson is the President of People's Choice, and the awards show is produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc., which is represented by MediaVest Worldwide, Inc., supervisors of the production.
