CURRENT TV TO BROADCAST THE CULMINATION OF AL GORE'S "24 HOURS OF REALITY": A GLOBAL EVENT TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE AND MOBILIZE CITIZENS TO TAKE ACTION

Current.com to feature Ustream's round-the-clock live broadcast from 23 different time zones and a forum for live online conversation leading up to Gore's final presentation

New York, NY (September 12, 2011) - Current TV, the Peabody and Emmy Award- winning television network, will broadcast the last hour of "24 Hours of Reality," - a multi-media presentation given by Nobel Laureate, former US Vice President and Current Chairman Al Gore, to US viewers on September 15th at 7 p.m. ET from New York City. The live broadcast of Gore's talk will be the culmination of this worldwide, 24-hour initiative, called The Climate Reality Project, which was designed to reveal the full truth, scope and impact of the climate crisis and mobilize citizens to take action to address climate change. Current TV in the UK will also air live coverage of Gore's presentation at midnight GMT.

In addition to its TV broadcast, Current.com will also present Ustream's live Internet feed from the start of "24 Hours of Reality" at current.com/climate. Current will feature the Ustream feed which will kick off at 8 p.m. ET in Mexico City on September 14,th and over the next day, will feature 23 different citizen activists from different parts of the world, each speaking at 7 p.m. in their local time zone, leading up to the TV broadcast on Current 23 hours later.

Those watching the live broadcast at Current will have the opportunity to share their views and connect with other viewers on the site and via social networking tools created in conjunction with The Climate Reality Project and Ustream.

In the US, Current will feature companion programming on September 14th and 15th prior to and after the live broadcast and Current's centerpiece program, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," including environmentally-themed episodes of "Vanguard," Current's investigative journalism series, as well as "Dangerous Planet," a series that examines the powerful natural forces such as earthquakes, floods and hurricanes that have had devastating effects on every corner of the globe in recent months.

During the "24 Hours of Reality" event, people all around the globe living with the impacts of climate change will connect the dots between recent extreme weather events - including floods, droughts and storms - and the manmade pollution that is changing our climate. From Pakistan to Cape Verde and Mexico City to Alaska, the event will feature scientists, celebrities, business leaders and concerned citizens, along with former Vice President Al Gore. It will be broadcast live online over 24 hours, representing 24 time zones and in multiple languages.

"Extreme droughts, terrible storms, and larger floods are devastating many parts of the world," said former Vice President Gore. "Today, climate change is no longer a prediction: It's a reality. Yet around the world, we are still subjected to polluter-financed misinformation and propaganda designed to mislead people about the dangers we face from the unfolding climate crisis. Those who want to protect their own short-term financial interest are employing the same strategy first used by tobacco companies years ago to mislead the public about the science linking cigarettes to disease and death."

The former Vice President added: "The time to face reality is now. '24 Hours of Reality' will bridge oceans and cultures - in every time zone - to bring the world together to emphasize the truth about the climate crisis and how we can solve it."

"24 Hours of Reality" is being organized by The Climate Reality Project; Vice President Gore's nonprofit organization (formerly known as the Alliance for Climate Protection). Since it was founded, the group has organized more than 5 million members and supporters, while building powerful campaigns such as Repower America and the WE Campaign.
