NEW YORK, NY (August 24, 2011) - Television's most popular housemates will take their trademark family dysfunction and humor from "Jerzdays" to Sunday, as MTV today announced that its hit series "Jersey Shore" will air on a special night and time, Sunday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, leading into the "2011 Video Music Awards" LIVE pre-show at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, and followed by the 28th Annual telecast at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The night will be capped off by a special sneak peek of the new scripted comedy "I Just Want My Pants Back" pilot episode, airing immediately following the "VMAs" at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Sunday night's "Jersey Shore" episode will mark a pivotal moment for Italy's most notorious American imports, as tensions between Mike and Ronnie come to a shocking head and threaten to disrupt the balance of the house. Viewers will finally gain clarity on what led up to Mike's highly speculated about hospitalization during season four filming - and fans will be shocked by the truth. Not content to make "Jersey Shore" die-hards wait until Sunday, MTV is providing an early, exclusive scene from that night's episode on MTV.com today (link and embed code to this incredible first look are provided below).

Episode 405 of "Jersey Shore" will air again as a special encore presentation on the show's regular night and time, Thursday, September 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Also returning that night is the fan-favorite series after show "Jersey Shore: After Hours" at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Hosted by Amy Paffrath, the special is the first of three all-new, half-hour shows that will gather the cast to discuss season four in all its dramatic and hilarious glory - with a few face-offs, reveals and never-before-seen clips along the way.

Platinum recording artist and Emmy Award-winning actress Selena Gomez will kick-off the biggest night in music as the celebrity host for the "2011 VMA Pre-Show" on Sunday, August 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Gomez will be reporting breaking news and interviewing her peers LIVE alongside MTV News correspondents Sway, Jim Cantiello and James Montgomery. Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording artist Cobra Starship will perform their smash hit, "You Make Me Feel� (Featuring Sabi) " off their soon to be released new album NIGHT SHADES (out August 29), LIVE during the VMA pre-show.

At 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the 28th Annual "MTV Video Music Awards" will air LIVE from the Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles. 2011 performers include Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Young The Giant. Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, and JB Smoove from HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm are confirmed to present. Jessie J will serve as the 2011 VMA house artist. Also just announced, music legend Tony Bennett will mark his first appearance on the VMA stage since 1993 to pay special tribute to the late British songstress Amy Winehouse.

The night will be capped off by a special sneak peek of the new scripted comedy "I Just Want My Pants Back" pilot episode, airing immediately following the "VMAs" at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. "I Just Want My Pants Back" follows Jason Strider, played by up-and-coming actor Peter Vack, and his friends as they navigate the minefield of their post-collegiate years. From acclaimed director and executive producer Doug Liman ("Mr. and Mrs. Smith, "Swingers," "Go," "Bourne Identity") and based upon David J. Rosen's critically acclaimed novel of the same name, the series will feature 12 half-hour episodes, and officially debut on MTV in January 2012.
