TRAVEL CHANNEL GREENLIGHTS PRODUCTION FOR "THE LAYOVER", A NEW ORIGINAL TRAVEL SERIES HOSTED BY ANTHONY BOURDAIN THAT BRINGS NEW MEANING TO THE 24-48 HOUR LAYOVER EXPERIENCE

Network Partners with Award-Winning Production Company, Zero Point Zero ("Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations") For Second Original Series

Chevy Chase, Md - July 26, 2011 - Travel Channel has greenlit production for "The Layover," a new original travel series hosted by Anthony Bourdain, the host of the Network's Emmy award-winning travel series "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations". Travel Channel has partnered with Zero Point Zero to produce this ten episode, one-hour weekly series. Chris Collins, Lydia Tenaglia and Anthony Bourdain will serve as executive producers for Zero Point Zero, and Stone Roberts will serve as the executive producer for the Travel Channel. This marks the second original series the award-winning production company will produce for the Network. It produced Travel Channel's seventh season of 'No Reservations', which recently earned four 2011 Emmy nominations. "The Layover" is slated to premiere in fourth quarter 2011.

In this new original series, Bourdain is back and like you've never seen him before. He is high octane, gritty and traveling with a sense of urgency. With only 24-48 hours in each city, he is pressed for time to show viewers the essential "must see" places, people and foods. Bourdain will travel throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe revealing insider tips that only the most seasoned traveler would know. Viewers will be treated to a ringside seat as he quickly gathers local intel, faces the enemy of time and distance, gets off the tired old tourist path and tries something new, all within a matter of hours.

"This is a chance to show viewers the secrets of Tony's traveling routine: cracking open the essence of each city, getting right to the marrow of every experience, and making the most out of every moment. These shows are not only about finding the best of every city, but they're filled with amazing tips and tricks for where to go, where to stay, where to eat, and how to get around -- as only Tony can share them and ZPZ can get them on tape!," said Fred Graver, SVP, Programming & Development, Travel Channel. "This series will inspire the occasional traveler and surprise even the most seasoned traveler." 'The Layover' will give viewers a hyper-caffeinated, utilitarian take on the Bourdain travel experience," said Lydia Tenaglia, Zero Point Zero. "It's Tony going straight at a city and showing what he thinks can and should be accomplished in a limited amount of time - brace yourself."

Anthony Bourdain is a 28-year veteran of professional kitchens, having worked as a dishwasher, line cook and chef in places good, bad and horrible -- most of them in New York City. In 2000, he published a memoir of his experiences in the culinary underbelly. "Kitchen Confidential" became an unlikely, but enduring, international bestseller. He has since milked that lucky break for everything it's worth, following up with the gonzo-travel diary, "A Cook's Tour"; a historical account of the notorious turn-of-the-century cook and disease carrier, "Typhoid Mary"; the crime novels "A Bone in the Throat," "Gone Bamboo" and "The Bobby Gold Stories"; "The Les Halles Cookbook"; a collection of essays entitled "The Nasty Bits"; and the companion book to the Travel Channel series, 'No Reservations'. His recently released, "Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook", is the long-awaited follow-up to "Kitchen Confidential", and is an insider's perspective on the changes in the restaurant business. Since embarking on a round-the-world trip for "A Cook's Tour," he has continued traveling for 'No Reservations' (now in its seventh season), for various publications, for public-speaking engagements and because he likes it. He lives in New York City with his wife, Ottavia, and his daughter, Ariane.
