Development Update: Monday, July 25
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

BAG OF BONES (A&E) - Melissa George has joined the cast of the mini-series, which stars Pierce Brosnan as a widowed bestselling novelist who becomes involved in a custody battle between the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child's enormously wealthy grandfather that results in mysterious ghostly visitations, the ever-escalating nightmares and the realization that his late wife still has something to tell him. George will play the aforementioned young widow with the previously cast Anabeth Gish as the late wife of Brosnan's character. Mick Garris is directing from a script by Matt Venne, which is based on Stephen King's book of the same name.

BLUE BLOODS (CBS) - Monica Raymund ("Lie to Me") has landed a multi-episode arc on the show's sophomore season. She'll play Leah Sosa, "an accomplished rookie police officer who gets assigned to Jamie (Will Estes) when his previous partner, Renzulli (Nick Turturro), gets bumped up the ranks to fill in as platoon commander."

CHUCK (NBC) - Mark Hamill has been tapped as one of the final season's key villains, co-creator Chris Fedak announced at the show's panel at Comic-Con International. No other details however were given about his character.

COMMUNITY (NBC) - Michael Kenneth Williams and John Goodman are both set to recur on the show's upcoming third season. Williams will play a "very intense" ex-con-turned-biology teacher while Goodman is on board as Vice Dean Laybourne, the head of Greendale's air conditioning repair school. The latter, who will appear in at least six episodes, is billed as "a major foe for both Dean Pelton (played by newly promoted series regular Jim Rash) and our favorite study group."

HOUSE (FOX) - Odette Annable ("Breaking In") has joined the cast of the veteran drama. While details about her character are being kept under wraps, she'll reportedly play a new doctor who House meets in prison following the events of the season finale. It's understood her casting won't derail a potential revival of the FOX comedy, which the network recently picked up the cast options on. Her addition comes on the heels of the departure of original cast member Lisa Edelstein and the presumed reduced workload from co-star Olivia Wilde.

RECONSTRUCTION (NBC) - Peter Horton has inked a two-year overall deal with producer Universal Media Studios. No financial details were given about the pact, which calls for the prolific writer/director to develop new series projects for the studio. Horton co-created, directed and executive produced the aforementioned drama pilot, which didn't move forward to series.

SUBURGATORY (ABC) - Rex Lee ("Entourage") has been upped to series regular on the freshman comedy. The actor guest starred in the pilot as Mr. Wolf, Tessa's (Jane Levy) slightly clueless guidance counselor, a role which he'll continue on a regular basis.

WORK IT (ABC) - Newcomer Hannah Sullivan has joined the cast of the midseason comedy, about Lee Standish (Ben Koldyke) - a quick-witted and likable family man who used to be a top car salesman until he got laid off - and Angel Ortiz (Amaury Nolasco) - a single, hot-headed ladies' man with no filter - who dress as women to get jobs as pharmaceutical reps. She'll play Lee's daughter Kat, taking over for Kacie Lynch, who played said role in the original pilot. No reason for the change was given.
