HISTORY(R) REVS UP FOR A NEW SEASON OF
TOP GEAR U.S.
HOSTED BY TANNER FOUST, RUTLEDGE WOOD AND ADAM FERRARA
PREMIERES SUNDAY, JULY 24, 10PM ET/PT
June 29, 2011, New York, NY - HISTORY announced today that the new season of the U.S. version of Top Gear will premiere on Sunday, July 24, at 10pm ET/PT. The first season of the critically-acclaimed and popular series attracted nearly 60 million viewers overall and delivered HISTORY's youngest audience ever.
Top Gear is hosted by champion race car driver Tanner Foust, racing analyst Rutledge Wood and comedian Adam Ferrara.
This season, Tanner, Adam and Rutledge take things to a new, thrilling and customarily ridiculous level. They pit the ultimate off-roader against an Air Boat through the Louisiana swamps, race the new Porsche 911 GTR2 at night through the streets of downtown Los Angeles, find out whether a Subaru STI or a dirt bike is the best way to escape a ghost town and set the 2011 Corvette ZR1 against the Ferrari 458 to determine if it has what it takes to be a supercar.
The upcoming season also criss-crosses America, going back to this nation's roots. The hosts head to one of the largest open cast mines to find the biggest, baddest dually pickup truck the Big Three have to offer. And in a salute to the history of the U.S. Postal Service, Tanner and Rutledge find out what the fastest way is to deliver a package through Moab Utah, two new high end Ford Mustangs or two of the old-school four-legged variety.
Featuring super-cars, extreme stunts and challenges, car reviews and celebrity interviews Top Gear is the home for anyone with a love of cars. The U.S. version is chock-full of high-adrenaline action entertainment as it tracks the colorful history of the automobile as well as the eccentric adventures of its hosts with Top Gear's customary wit and humor. The series harkens back to HISTORY's very first day, and the network's very first program ever to air, Automobiles: Corvette.
The new season of Top Gear premieres on HISTORY Sunday, July 24, 10pm ET/PT. For more information go to www.historypressroom.com.
Top Gear is a produced by BBC Worldwide Productions and is co-production between HISTORY and BBC Worldwide. John Hesling is Executive Producer. Executive producer for HISTORY is Russ McCarroll.
