By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

COMMON LAW (USA) - Craig Sweeny ("Medium") has signed on an as executive producer of the drama pilot, about two cops (Michael Ealy, Warren Kole) who just can't get along that are sent to couples therapy. He'll lend a hand during reshoots - mostly to accommodate the recasting of the cops' therapist, originally played by Amy Acker - as well as serve as co-showrunner should the CBS Television Studios-based project go to series. Jon Turteltaub is directing and executive producing while Cormac and Marianne Wibberley are the co-creators.

THE DREW PETERSON STORY (Lifetime, New!) - Rob Lowe ("Parks & Recreation") and Kaley Cuoco ("The Big Bang Theory") are set to topline a docudrama at the cable channel based on the true story of Drew Peterson, "a charismatic, womanizing Chicago-area police officer charged with the death of his third wife after the mysterious disappearance of his fourth wife." Lowe will play the man in question with Cuoco as Peterson's fourth wife, 23-year-old Stacy, who was 30 years his junior. Teena Booth is penning the project, which will explore the two cases and any possible connections between them, using Joseph Hosey's book "Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson" as a basis. Judith Verno is executive producing for Peace Out Productions.

OUTLAW COUNTRY (FX) - Josh Goldin and Rachel Abramowitz's drama pilot, a crime thriller set against the backdrop of southern organized crime and Nashville royalty, is set to undergo extensive reshooting. Luke Grimes, Haley Bennett, Mary Steenburgen and John Hawkes co-star in the project, originally directed by Michael Dinner. Actor/director Adam Arkin has been tapped to helm the revised script - penned by Goldin, Abramowitz and David Manson - while Dinner focuses on fellow FX pilot "Powers." FX is no stranger to retooling its pilots as "Sons of Anarchy" and "Lights Out" both were recast and had scenes reshot. As for "Outlaw," it's understood Lisa Blount's role will be recast following the actress's death while a couple of small new roles have been added. No further details however were given. Art Linson and John Linson also serve as executive producers for Fox Television Studios and FX Productions.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (ABC Family) - The cable channel plans to air an original episode of the series during its "13 Nights of Halloween" event. "We weren't planning this and then ABC Family came to us and said we'd love for you to do a one-off," executive producer Oliver Goldstick told The Hollywood Reporter. "We were already very tight at 24 episodes, now we're doing 25 from March to December. That's a lot of episodes." No details were given about the installment.
