LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX) - Frances Conroy ("Six Feet Under") and Alexandra Breckenridge ("Life Unexpected") have both joined the cast of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's drama pilot, about Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott), "a handsome therapist who, along with his wife (Connie Britton) and their kids, move into a new house." Conroy will play their housekeeper Moira O'Hara, with Breckenridge as a younger version of the character. Denis O'Hare, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange and Taissa Farmiga also star.

DEXTER (Showtime) - Billy Brown ("Lights Out") has scored a role on the show's upcoming sixth season. He'll play Mike Cutler, "a no-nonsense Chicago homicide detective who transfers to Miami Metro, where he immediately ruffles some feathers." Other new faces this season include Edward James Olmos, Colin Hanks and rapper Mos (formerly Mos Def).

THE FINDER (FOX) - Producers are reportedly planning to recast the role of Ike Latulippe, a tough bar owner and helicopter pilot. Saffron Burrows played said part in backdoor pilot episode of "Bones." No reason was given for the change.

SONS OF ANARCHY (FX) - Niko Nicotera, Fernanda Andrade, LaMonica Garrett and Rockmond Dunbar have all landed recurring roles on the show's upcoming fourth season. Nicotera will play Ratboy, a twentysomething SAMCRO prospect, with Andrade as Elyda, "a sexy Latina babysitter" who works for Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Tara (Maggie Siff). Dunbar then is set as Eli Roosevelt, the new, hard-nosed sheriff of Charming, with Garrett as his Deputy Sheriff Cane. The quartet join Danny Trejo, who signed on as a charismatic and dangerous former commando for the Mexican military who becomes a new associate of SAMCRO earlier this month.

WHITNEY (NBC) - Beverly D'Angelo, who played Whitney Cummings's mother in the comedy pilot, reportedly won't be continuing on with the series. She'll however remain part of the pilot episode as the role isn't being recast. The newcomer airs on Thursday nights this fall.
