LIFETIME TELEVISION RENEWS HOSPITAL DOCU-SERIES "ONE BORN EVERY MINUTE" FOR SECOND SEASON
Network Orders 10 New Episodes of Freshman Series
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2011) - Lifetime Television has renewed its hospital docu-series One Born Every Minute for a second season, ordering 10 new hour-long episodes of the series that takes an in-depth look at life inside the maternity ward at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The announcement was made today by Nancy Dubuc, Lifetime Networks' President and General Manager.
"The unexpected moments of childbirth brilliantly captured in One Born Every Minute -- ranging from intense drama to the sheer joy of having a child - immediately struck a chord with our viewers," said Dubuc. "Reveille worked tirelessly to make a great show, and we look forward to working with them and the team at Riverside Methodist Hospital on season two."
The February 1 series debut of One Born Every Minute was the Lifetime's most watched unscripted series debut among Women 18-49 and Adults 18-49 in over a year. Season-to-date, the series is averaging 831,000 Total Viewers in its Tuesday 10:00 pm ET/PT timeslot, a 20% jump above the 2011-to-date time period norm; +17% among Adults 25-54, +24% in Adults 18-49, +30% in Women 25-54 and +37% in Women 18-49.
From the delivery room, to the operating room, to the front desk, to the nurse's station...40 cameras roll 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in One Born Every Minute to follow the high drama, humor and overwhelming emotion of child birth as new lives begin and others change forever. Based on the popular U.K. format originated by Dragonfly, the program is produced by fellow Shine Group company Reveille LLC, with Howard T. Owens (MasterChef), Robin Ashbrook (Live to Dance), Sanjay Singhal (One Born Every Minute U.K.) and Elisabeth Murdoch (MasterChef) executive producing the second season alongside Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy and Sandy Varo Jarrell of Lifetime Television. In addition to the U.K. and U.S., One Born Every Minute is currently in production in France and Sweden in deals brokered through Shine International, which handles international distribution of One Born Every Minute.
